Long before children put pencil to paper, they should play. 🤸‍♀️

We tend to think that if we want our children to be strong in school to start with workbooks and worksheets to start kids with these skills early. But developmental readiness begins with gross motor movement and play. This means skills like running, jumping, swinging, dancing, bike-riding, and plenty of outdoor play all before sitting down in a chair to grasp and pencil. These larger-motor skills are important to be developed first, before the fine-motor skills of painting, writing, and drawing. Think of it like a tree--the body needs trunk control with balance and coordination, before it can focus on its limbs. 🌳
