Efflorescence is a natural reaction that can occasionally appear on cement-based materials when exposed to moisture over time.
On finishes such as Ancient Rust, Black, Fossil, French Lime, and Steel Grey, this may appear as a soft white powder-like residue across the surface. Rather than being a fault or defect, efflorescence is part of the natural ageing process of mineral-based materials.
As moisture moves through the surface, naturally occurring salts can rise and settle externally — something commonly found in outdoor environments and architectural stone products.
With simple ongoing care, the surface can be easily maintained:
• Clean gently using warm soapy water and a soft sponge
• Repeat as needed (typically 3–4 applications)
• For more persistent areas, a specialist efflorescence remover may be used following manufacturer instructions
Like all natural materials, these subtle changes form part of the texture, depth, and character that develop beautifully over time.
