We are deeply saddened by the passing of Paul ‘Bones’ Butterworth.

Paul was a valued and long-standing member of our team, dedicating more than 20 years to our company as a mechanic, maintenance worker and arborist. Over that time, he became so much more than a colleague, he was a trusted mate to all of us.

Paul’s knowledge, work ethic and willingness to lend a hand will always be remembered. He took pride in his work and played a big part in shaping who we are as a company today.

We will miss sitting down at the end of each day talking footy, golf, coaching and life in general, we will miss the laughs and the arguments when we brought back another truck or chainsaw we damaged for you to fix.

You will be missed bones as a workmate but mostly as a friend to talk to.

Our thoughts are with Paul’s family, friends and all who had the privilege of working alongside him.

Rest easy, Paul. You will be greatly missed.

Riverland Highworks will be closed on Tuesday 24th of March to pay our respects to Bones.

✅ Check for public liability coverage
✅ Get a written quote
✅ Don’t be pressured into “cash-only” or urgent jobs without time to review

💼 How long have you been with the company?
24+ years.

📚 What’s your background in your role and work safety?
As a trainee linesman in 1985 (just after the Ash Wednesday bushfires), I was trained in tree cutting to reduce ETSA’s risk of starting further bushfires. In 1994, I trained as a line clearance officer to keep vegetation in check around powerlines. Being an ETSA employee for 15 years, safety was a very big part of everyday work, which I’ve carried through to Riverland High Works.

Trimming a tree to reduce risk for the owner and still maintaining its aesthetics at the end of the job. I enjoy identifying and fixing defects in trees and providing solutions to those problems. I also take customer concerns and resolve them while ensuring safety.

Returning workers home to their families each day and ensuring new equipment makes operations safer.

🤩 Fun fact about you
I’m a car nut!
