Paul is returfing his kikuyu lawn with couch, so he reached out to discuss his soil profile. Clay was known to be present and potentially causing some issues, so we took a closer look. The soil we inspected actually looked ok, although ordinarily in need of some nutrients.

However, upon an expanded search, it goes to show how quickly soil conditions can change. Some plugs are mostly loam, whereas others are 40% clay.

Soil conditions (and any variations) should always be considered when choosing soil amendments and preparing to returf or a lawn renovation.

Reach out if you want to discuss your soil conditions for any lawn plans.

If your sports field is a little worse for wear after the season so far and rain, top dressing with sand is great for fixing the most trampled spots (eg goal areas). Our Eco250 top dresser can make easy work of this.

We understand this maintenance is usually undertaken by volunteers and opportunities are slim. If you’re thinking about it, reach out now and we can discuss options.

This weekend we would have loved to help but we were enjoying a great time in Redcliffe, including today at the Dolphins Stadium. Fins Up!

Eco250 available for hire now.

Every hire of our Paddock Corers undergoes a prestart checklist. This ensures each corer is ready to aerate your lawn.

Happy Sunday Lawnies. After last night’s storm, everyone’s soil should be just right for coring. Having moist soil is ideal for coring, as it allows the tyne to go as deep as possible.

Dry ground makes it harder to core, especially if clay is involved. So in addition to keeping your lawn alive, rain is great for coring too.
