👀 Up close & personal with Begonia blooms! I found another stunning example today in my collection of the two different types of Begonia flowers - male & female. 🌸
The male flower typically flowers first and looks like an opening clam-shell with a fuzzy ball of pollen in the centre.
While female flowers are distinguished by the triangular shaped or ‘3-winged’ o***y behind the petals and tend to have a swirly looking centre.
The fancy word for a plant having both male and female flowers is ‘monoecious’, incase you’re a bit nerdy like me! I love how fascinating and clever plants are, they’ve definitely taught me a lot over time.
I’d love to know any cool plant facts that you find interesting! 👇
