Another great effort by the team at Sudden Impact Landscapes
A special shout out to Jarrod who did the initial consultation, Design, Quote, all prep work, Construction, estimating quantities and material deliveries, dug holes, mixed concrete, pushed barrows, moved rocks, planting and mulching, the end clean up and rubbish removal......I couldn't have done this without you.....Now off home to do the invoicing 😃

A nice reminder of last years entry in the Queensland Landscape awards as we approach the Awards for 2022

Creating a natural water course for the overflow from the water tanks under the house. Dug out a contoured channel lined with heavy duty geo fabric and used up everything available on site - rocks, old concrete stumps, broken concrete footings, cement bags gone hard, bricks, blocks and a couple of fallen logs to line the creek bed. This should slow down the erosion while also give a natural creek bed impression. Also it keeps with the theme of up cycling used materials which were otherwise destined to be dumped.

We now have a complete circuit. The timber steps are repurposed sleepers from the makeshift ramp I built for the Kanga access to ferry in the recycled 20mm concrete drainage gravel. The rest of the very informal staircase is made from existing steps they had in place prior to construction. I even left a few of the original steps that were already in place as they were sturdy and still sound enough to use, plus the clients get claims on some of hard work that’s gone in to the project. It got a bit tricky and very steep as I got near the top and had to work around the huge trunk and root system of the Jacaranda. As a result I was pretty happy with the natural feel of walking your way through a tropical rain forest National park. Almost ready to bring in the soil and mulch to start planting out the undergrowth and bring this lovely garden space to life.

Recycled concrete sleeper seating platform for a morning coffee…..re purposed cast bath tub positioned for bubbling water feature….a couple more rope safety barriers on the higher drop offs to help blend with raised platforms and all boxed sleeper steps now filled with drainage gravel…..it’s starting to get easier getting up and down this hill now 😎

Making the job easier where possible….sure beats loading barrows by shovel and pushing them up hill

Steps, steps, steps!! From top to bottom approximately 4.6m ….27 steps in total including the platforms. Getting very close to the bottom gate now and then have more steps up the other side of the property to link the whole project together…roughly 14 more to go 😄…..then I can fill them with drainage gravel 😅

Forgot to get some before pics of this one but Garden steps are proving to be flavour of the month. Trying to keep with the existing shapes and rock work and taking care not to disturb existing plants. This came up a treat and provides the owner with easier access to walk around her garden.
