🌊 Back When Life Felt a Little Simpler 🌊

No phones, no rush, just sun, sea, and freedom.

Days spent at the beach with your best mates. Your loyal dog watching from the shore. The Sandman panel van parked nearby, an iconic part of the 80s in Australia.

There's something about 80s Australian beach culture that feels timeless. It wasn't about having the latest technology or chasing the next big thing. It was about being present. It was about connection. It was about simple, uncomplicated joy.

This piece from our Australian Retro Calendar is a quiet reminder of those simple and carefree days. In our busy lives, we often forget to slow down. We're glued to our phones. We're rushing from one thing to the next. We're missing the moments that actually matter.

But when I look at this drawing, I'm reminded: the best moments in life are the simple ones. A day at the beach with people you love. The sound of waves. The warmth of the sun. A loyal friend by your side.

Sometimes it's nice to pause, recharge, and refocus on what truly matters. ❤️

What's a simple moment from your past that you wish you could relive? I'd love to hear about it in the comments.

🌿Thinking About Organising a Family Reunion? Here's What I Learnt🌿

Bringing our family together recently was one of the most rewarding things I've done, but it didn't happen by accident. After months of planning and coordination, I've learned a few things that made all the difference and I'm sharing them with you in case you're thinking about doing the same.

🌟Start with one clear contact point. A Facebook group worked brilliantly for us. It became the hub for all communication, photo sharing, and excitement-building. One place meant no one missed announcements, and it kept the momentum going between planning and the actual day.

🌟Lock in a location early. Everything else flows from that decision. Once we had a venue and date, the rest fell into place naturally. People could book time off, plan travel, and start imagining the day.

🌟Keep it simple. People come for connection, not perfection. We didn't need elaborate catering or complicated activities. Tables, good food, and space for conversation was enough. The magic happened in the moments between, the stories, the laughter, the recognition across generations.

🌟Collect stories and photos beforehand. This was the game-changer for us. We asked family members to bring along family heirlooms and memorabilia. People also bought along photos. It made everything more meaningful and personal.

What surprised me most was how much it meant to people, not just the day itself, but the chance to reconnect and share stories across generations. Cousins who hadn't seen each other in years found common ground. Younger family members heard stories they'd never heard before. It felt like we were weaving our family history together in real time.

If you've been thinking about organising one, it's worth it. The planning is worth it. The coordination is worth it. Because at the end of the day, you're not just organizing an event, you're preserving your family's legacy and strengthening the bonds that hold you together.

Have you organised a family reunion? I'd love to hear your tips in the comments! 💚
