This is what happens when a trailing lead collects more dust than ohm’s Ω. I happened to stumble into this property, which was rewired in recent years by others, only to find that the entire light circuit had failed earth continuity. To simply put it, every conductive component connected to earth on the circuit had no earth fault protection. A lucky find, before things could have potentially become spicey..
