Day 20/365

The biggest compost mistake of all...

Thinking compost needs to be perfect.

🌱 Truth:

Great compost comes from:
• Balance
• Patience
• Consistency

Not ratios.

Not constant fixing.

Not doing it “the right way”.

If you’re returning organic matter to your soil, you’re already winning.

This is how we go from mid to magnificent 🌼

This one changes everything 👇

Day 19/365

Compost mistake #5: Composting everything in one place

Not all organic matter belongs in the bin.

🌱 Common mix-ups:

• Mulch-worthy material going into compost
• Worm food ending up in garden beds
• Woody items slowing bins down

✅ How to fix it:

Think systems, not rules:
• Soft scraps → compost or worms
• Rough, carbon-heavy material → garden beds
• Leaves & straw → mulch

Using the right place for the right material speeds everything up.

This one’s about expectations 👇

Day 17/365

Compost mistake #3: Expecting compost too fast

Cold compost is slow by design.... and that’s okay.

🌱 What beginners often think:

“If it’s not ready in weeks, I’ve done it wrong”

🌱 What’s actually true:

Cold compost can take months, especially in cooler weather.

✅ How to fix it:

• Keep adding materials
• Keep it balanced
• Keep living your life

Compost is working quietly in the background, even when you can’t see it.

Slow compost is still good compost 🌱

Here’s the info 👇

Hi, I’m Diana 🙋🏼‍♀️

Welcome back to my “Mid to Magnificent” veggie gardening series, where I’m taking you from a brand new garden bed all the way through to harvesting your own veggies 🌱

Day 13
..and today we’re choosing the right composting method for YOU 👇

There’s no “best” composting system — only the one that fits your space, time and lifestyle 👇

🪱 Short on space?
→ Worm farms or Bokashi or in bed composting

⏱️ Short on time?
→ Cold composting or in-bed composting

🔥 Want compost fast?
→ Hot composting

🌿 Setting up new beds?
→ Sheet composting + in-bed composting

♻️ Lots of kitchen waste?
→ Bokashi + compost pile

💪 Anyone can do it?
→ Chop and drop

Experienced gardeners don’t choose one method, they layer systems to keep nutrients cycling back into the soil 🌼

The right compost system is the one that feels sustainable for you, not the one that looks best on Instagram
