A beautiful Grantville garden that we’ve spent a couple of years nurturing. From little seedlings to what you see here. We’re particularly proud of the Westringia spheres we’ve delicately shaped as they’ve grown.

We don’t go as far as Grantville any longer, so have passed the torch to Jono from .horticulture who’ll continue the love. Thanks Jono!

Happy National Wattle day! (And Father’s Day, and first day of spring).

Wattles are adaptable and resilient plants, able to withstand Australia’s infertile soils, droughts and bushfires. They are a symbol of Australian identity and connection to country.

In Bass Coast, the more common varieties found are Acacia Mearnsii (black wattle), Acacia Dealbata (Silver Wattle), Acacia Paradoxa (hedge wattle) and Acacia Stricta (hop wattle).

Cancer organisations globally use the daffodil as a symbol of hope for all people affected by cancer. Daffodils mark the return of spring and new life. It was first used in Toronto, Canada in the 1950s during volunteer organised coffee mornings to raise money for cancer awareness and research.

While the name daffodil is well known to people who aren’t even flower lovers, these flowers are from a genus called Narcissus. They’re Spring perennial flowers that originated in south-west Europe. Like many other bulb flowers, this means that you plant them in Autumn and by Spring you should have plenty of pretty flowers. While some flowers grow in a huge variety of colours, daffodils are found only in white or yellow.
