Mulgrave Landcare and Catchment Group Mulgrave Landcare & Catchment Group Inc. is a community driven environmental organisation based in Gordonvale, North Queensland.

Our Mission is to encourage the adoption of sound environmental practices in the Mulgrave River catchment, recognizing the rights and expectations of the community to use the valley's resources for living, recreational and economic purposes. Mulgrave Landcare’s priority activities are:

Getting excited for this Sundays tree planting - site preparation is underway, clearing the pond apple provides mulch for beautiful soil for the trees to thrive. The weather is perfect and come watch the demo of our new water blaster at work. Who is joining us?

📅 Sunday 16th August 3-5pm. Stay on for refreshments afterwards.

🌿 What to bring: Sun-smart all weatherproof gear, covered shoes, gloves, water bottle and a friend or two!

📍 Where: The end of Ross Rd, Deeral

Happy Landcare Week! 🌿💚

Everything Mulgrave Landcare accomplishes—from restoring vital habitats to protecting our local ecosystems—is only possible because of the incredible dedication of our members, volunteers, staff, and committee. You are the heart of what we do, and your hard work makes a real, lasting impact.

Here’s how you can get involved:

🌱 Volunteering at the Nursery: Drop in and get your hands dirty with us every Tuesday and Thursday morning 8:30-10:30am!

🌳 Save the Date: Our next community tree planting is set for Sunday, August 16th, from 3:00 PM – 5:00 PM in Deeral. More details are coming very soon, so stay tuned!

🌱 Huge thank you to our amazing community! 🌱

What an incredible afternoon we had at Rossi Lagoon on Sunday! A massive shoutout to the 62 volunteers who joined us - together, we managed to plant 1,863 trees in just 1 hour and 20 minutes! ⏱️🌳 Huge team effort!

After all that hard work, everyone earned their burgers and cold drinks at the end, and even a mini concert by a former Australian Idol. 🍔🥤

Thank you to Tony Rossi and the Rossi family for all of their hard to work prepare the site and make the afternoon such a success.

A special thank you to the Department of the Environment, Tourism, Science and Innovation (DETSI). This planting session was made possible through funding from the Grassroots Environmental Grants program.

This grant also enabled us to purchase and experiment with the water blaster which worked well even though this was our first time using it. At this wetland site, being able to create holes for plants on the steep slope at the water's edge without the need for heavy augers was fantastic. I am sure the blaster will allow us to prepare sites faster with less physical stress on our field staff, which will make our work safer, especially as we head into the hotter months toward the end of the year.

Thank you again to everyone who came out to support us and help restore our local environment.

We are on the hunt for a new Field Officer to expand our team.
This is a hands-on role involving native plant nursery work, revegetation, w**d control, and water sampling. The 30-38 hour per week position requires a Certificate III in Conservation & Land Management (or equivalent), a driver's licence, and ability to perform physically demanding outdoor work.
