Community is dyeing allover the place, you just keep waving and saying G'day when you can, if your not there "DOING" then who is, we all have to battle/push through the hard times, please do this not only for your self but for your community.
Once upon a time there was no community and then someone started waving and saying G'day just because it made them feel good about them selves and I'll do the same thing, together we can build it up again.

Late August.
The Chook shed is coming along, I've been busy putting in a fox proof brick floor, when the shed is finished I'll put a layer of straw or Wood shavings down.
I've started work on the wells with a frame to attach plywood to help create a dark, warm house.
Yes I'm going to try using tyres as nesting boxes, hanging them on the walls, I'll need to hold the tyres apart with some timber so the chooks can sit down inside the tyres on top of a layer of straw or Wood shavings.

August job.
Here I am trying to make the circle driveway not so slippery, stop the weeds and also level out the sides of the driveway to allow the easier movement by hand of trailers, trolleys, wheelbarrows and the like around the backyard.
The cardboard is being held down by the 40mm blue stone with a layer of mulch through the middle.

This is the Blood plums rival side, the sucker has more than doubled in size since we moved into Coolstore Road and I said back then that it has to go one day soon well it only took me fourteen years there abouts but in my defense I was waiting for something to replace the shade the sucker provided, that something is the vine, I think the vine is about two years away before it can replace the shade.

Late June again.
Sarah came round to help me with the pruning of the fruit tree, taking the top out of the pear tree, bringing it down about 1 1/2 to 2 meters.
The mandarin tree is the other notable tree at pruning time for after twelve months about half of the tree's black sooty mould has cleared up so we only did some thing on it bad side but all the fruit tastes amazing, last year thing has really turned it around from flowery almost dry fruit to something yummy, I ate or gave a way all the fruit on the tree this, having never taken more than one fruit off the tree before (to try it) the mandarin tree was able to change the taste of it fruit without replacing it AMAZING.

Just something I noticed back in June about the blood plum, only some of the tree has lateral (last year growth) on it.
In other years I have noticed that the tree only fruits on one side of it, low down but the tree has always followed all over. Anyway making note for my journal to look back on.

While pruning the vine, growing out the front a clump of lamb's ear I thought would look good with trunk of the vine so when I'd finish the pruning I transferred the lamb's ear out the back to the base of the vine dividing it into three with two clumps either side of the walkway around the vine, hopefully when the lamb's ear flowers (stands up) in amongst twisted truck of the vine there will be contrast to see.

The shade cloth is just to help as see the vine stand out from the mess in the background so the camera can focus on the vine.

Last year I was cleaning up this wound in the base of the blood plum and found myself cutting out the Wood more and more making a hollow, this hollow has good drainage lower down so I planted it out with some bulbs and succulents, one succulent is a bit hidden, I'm impressed with how well the bulbs have returned this year.
The bulbs are sitting in a small terracotta pot with some soil, the terracotta pot is sitting in some bit of rock which is also holding the succulents down, when planting it out I hoped that the rock would be visible but not really that visible oh well, still love it.
