Jack Frost is here! 🥶
To protect your grass during winter frosts, keep off your lawn and stay off it until the frost has melted. Walking on a frostbitten lawn can actually cause the grass blades to break and cause more damage. Give your lawn a light watering just before the sun comes up to remove frost from the leaf and prevent damage. Watering your lawn will help the frost to melt quicker and more evenly and will minimise the severity of discolouration. 🍀

When the soil is cold, sap flow in plants is sluggish, roots take up minimal moisture and nutrients and growth slows right down. ❄️
Seeds will not germinate until the soil warms again so it's a good idea to use seedlings rather than seeds. And to protect those seedlings from winter frosts, cover them with frost cloth 🥰

AERATION for your lawn:
Aeration promotes deep root growth, leading to a healthier lawn. The primary purpose of aerating is to reduce soil compaction, which hinders nutrient and water absorption by the roots. After rainfall and whilst fertilising is an ideal time for aeration, as it facilitates the process. Aerating is often overlooked, but its importance in allowing air, water and nutrients to get into the soil cannot be overstated.
