Autumn πŸ‚ might be here on the calendar, but the plants clearly haven't read the memo yet. We've begun having cooler mornings and softer light but the humidity and high UV levels are keeping everything in late-summer mode. Still with the heatwaves behind us and the weather beginning to settle, it's a great time to reset the garden:
* cut back and hedge while growth is active
* refresh tired beds with compost or soil improver
* prepare for autumn planting before the real cool change arrives.
A little early autumn maintenance now will set everything up beautifully for once the season kicks in.

We have had a little rain this week but only 3-5mm at a time here, it's not enough to properly soak the soil. Gardens still need consistent watering, especially with a warm March on the way.

We've had around 10mm of rain and another milder week, which has given the gardens a much-needed breather. We're only half way through Summer and the heat isn't finished yet, so a little preparation now will help your plants stay happy through the next warm spell.
A few tips:
- Check soil moisture after the rain - it doesn't always soak as deeply as it seems.
- Top up mulch to lock in moisture
- Give pots and new plantings a deep drink before the next hot days.

* Top up mulch to help hold moisture
* Check soil moisture on warm afternoons
* Give stressed plants a tidy and weakened seasol
