wall tiles can make or break a bathroom.. large format tiles provide a clean and clear backdrop to your fittings and fixtures with minimal grout scrubbing 🤍 make sure you know what you are in for if you choose tiny (but beautiful!) feature tiles 😂💚

F L O O R T I L E S ⬜️ ⬜️ ⬜️
so much to say, so little time! 😅 choosing the correct floor tile is vital to the success of your bathroom renovation. This bathroom will be an open ‘wet area’ with no shower recess, so a tile with the correct slip resistance is a must. This tile was also selected for its fleck pattern which helps to disguise dirt and reduce the frequency of cleaning. A matching grout colour creates a seamless surface.

the screed and waterproofing components are both crucial elements to the construction of any bathroom 👷 the screed layer provides a fall in the floor for the tiles to sit on and the waterproofing ensures that all water ultimately drains to the right place ☑️ they are both completely covered when the bathroom is finished so it’s good moment to appreciate them now while they are visible 🤩

here we go! plumbing is installed ☑️ walls, floors and ceilings are sheeted ☑️ now comes the fun part 🙌 if you have a small bathroom, consider an in-wall toilet cistern. They are a great way to trick your eye and create a space that feels larger than it really is

this little room is one of the most complex in a whole house. plumbing, sheeting, waterproofing, screeding, tiling... all vital tasks to be coordinated to ensure that water goes where it is supposed to at the end. this DIY is not for the fainthearted... 🤪🏠

important note for pre-purchase building and pest inspections.... GET ONE! although it can seem like unnecessary time and money spent when you’re under pressure to make an offer, they can make all the difference when you’re buying a property. this rotten and termite-eaten section of structure needed the be completely replaced (see that first piece of red, termite treated timber?) knowing about it meant we could factor it in to the purchase price and construct program 🏠💪🌊 🐜 contact us for tips on selecting a building and pest inspector

painting prep.. the most important part of repainting is often overlooked. after patching any holes, sand back rough and uneven surfaces before you paint. use a primer if you are painting over a dark colour with a light colour. start by cutting in the edges with a paintbrush, then use a roller or spray gun for the rest of the surface. you’ll sometimes need three coats to get an even finish 🏠🧑‍🎨 this is ‘vivid white’ by @ Sydney, Australia

picking the right tone of white can be daunting, especially with so many options available 💭🦷🐇🥚 first, understand your space: do you want warming (intimacy) or cooling (spacious) tones? Be sure to get some small samples and test them out to see what looks best! @ Hornsby, New South Wales
