Some special orders go well and sometimes they don’t.

After a 20+ week wait for these lovely Italian tubular radiators we found out that many of them are incorrect and not what we ordered. Ports in the wrong locations etc.

These problems sometimes happen when ordering products from the other side of the planet and is disappointing. Hopefully Air Freight will save the day. Our supplier is great and hopefully has it sorted.

Anyway, We decided to through bolt the radiators to the floor instead of fixing into the 150 year old walls. It’s a nice clean look and is very solid. Thanks to Liam for polishing 60 x 10mm SS bolts and for also tightening them up under the floor. 💪🏼😀

The Hydronic Towel rails went in well and we will still try and get the system going with the emitters we have available.

With white nuts I put some heat shrink on a new Plier wrench and it worked out great. No powdercoat damage so far. 👍🏻

A great 10 radiator InTec V2 condensing boiler job was started and completed this week. 2.5 days.

Our customer is in a flood level area so every 15 years or so has had to replace the underfloor ducted system.

Hydronic heating with a high level heat source like this is flood proof. It could still be used during a flood event but efficiency levels would definitely be low. 😀

** Also my nephew Peter helped us out greatly on this job. Learnt really fast and was funny as. 👍🏼

Peter has just left the military after a few monotonous years and wants to do a civilian trade instead. He is looking at starting an Electrical Apprenticeship as soon as possible. Peter is based in the Shepparton, Victoria area.

A simple but brilliant idea we witnessed on a job site today.

A heavy pizza oven was being installed by a crawler crane. They used slings to move it and we were wondering how they would be able to remove the slings after it was in final position.

4 x Ice blocks made from takeaway food containers did the job perfectly. Ingenuity at its best.

I had instant flash backs of how this simple solution would have made moving wood boilers over the last 30 years so much easier.

Sometimes the best thing is to see others do their thing and learn from it. We are always learning. 👍🏼

We attended a 3 year old Floor Heating installation on a high quality home that was not working. After the customer was blocked by the original hydronic company we were contacted.

The heat pump was cycling on and off every 3-5 minutes. The wall thermostat was set to 26c and was struggling to reach 20c.

We found a huge 300w primary pump in the Monoblock heat pump and a tiny 30w secondary pump to feed the 14 internal floor circuits with an uncontrolled bypass loop.

This way out of balance pump fight would never work. Hydraulic separation like this is not necessary on slab floor heating and also increases costs and reduces efficiency. A concrete slab is a fantastic thermal battery.

We removed the small secondary pump and the bypass loop.

System was finally running perfectly when we departed with a return temperature delta of 5c. 3 years of inefficiency was solved in 3 hours. 

No interest in naming the company that installed it.

I take full responsibility for the incident.

The trailer was equipped with a substantial 400kg 50kw wood boiler, and I mistakenly assumed that
my “A/T” All Terrain tyres would do there job. It appears the tyres capabilities were overstated.

Fortunately our customer was available to get us out of the stuck situation.

It was a great week. Lots of service work to start with fixing a few problems from other companies that don’t care about efficiency at all or simply don’t know what they are doing.

After that we started and completed one of our correctly designed installations in Benalla. The customer previously used plug in “100% efficient” K-Mart type panel resistance heaters. 100% efficient regarding electric resistance heating is the same as a bread toaster.

We installed a new Air to Water Heat Pump to wall mounted radiators that will increase efficiency by an average of 400%.

We also set the weather compensation to automatically raise the water temperature when the outside temperature is low.

After 30 years of installing Hydronic Heating it is still amazing to me how efficient using water to heat almost anything can be.

A new efficiency upgrade of a old 70% efficient gas boiler to a 95% efficient unit. Service work and our new dog Otis is now finally best friends with 8 year old Atlas.

A total re-pipe of an old 12 radiator system was completed today near Seymour.

We have improved from the old copper pipework by using the full flow system that expands the MLCP pipe at all pipe connections so internal pipe friction is reduced. A single 26mm multi layer composite pipe (MLCP) can carry 30kw+ of energy no problem.

More efficiency with negligible thermal losses.

System running 100% on departure.
