Set on the waterfront of Sydney Harbour, Modern Concept Constructions was engaged by to deliver a two-stage transformation of a six-storey, century-old building crowned by a luxury penthouse.⁣⁣
⁣
Stage One centred on revitalising the building’s entrance, with a contemporary façade and upgraded entryway designed to enhance both aesthetic appeal and street presence.⁣⁣
⁣⁣
Stage Two expanded the residents’ living experience with the addition of new steel-framed balconies, finished in frameless glass to maximise uninterrupted harbour views. Each residence was further enhanced with sleek glass bi-fold doors, seamlessly connecting indoor and outdoor spaces.⁣⁣

Serenity in every detail
At Serenity House, the bathrooms were designed to capture a sense of calm through natural materials and timeless balance.

Soft veining in the marble tiles contrasts with warm timber cabinetry, while concealed fixtures and clean lines maintain a minimalist flow. Every element, from the custom joinery to the integrated lighting, was carefully considered to enhance functionality without compromising elegance.

It’s a reflection of the home’s broader design ethos: understated luxury, built to last.

Tucked within one of Paddington’s most sought-after streets, this project replaces a former garage with a new dual-purpose structure: a sleek garage topped with a loft-style tiny home. The result is a luxury micro-residence that makes the most of every square metre.⁣⁣⁣⁣

At only 26m², the home is rich in detail and craftsmanship. Pitched ceilings with exposed hardwood rafters create warmth and character, while skylights and custom privacy louvres balance light, ventilation, and privacy. Hardwood stairs, stainless steel handrails, and subtle recessed lighting complete the entry experience.⁣⁣⁣⁣

Every build has a feature that defines it. In this home, it’s the curved concrete staircase framed by tropical greenery. It’s a bold structural element that breaks from the straight lines of the architecture and adds a sense of movement and flow.

Getting the form right took planning, precision and teamwork. From the initial design through to the final pour, every stage was mapped out to achieve the perfect curve and finish. The surrounding landscape softens the structure, creating a strong visual link between the indoors and out.

For Chris and the MCC team, this is what good building is about — understanding the intent behind the design and executing it to the highest standard. The result is a feature that feels solid, refined and built to last.

Fairlight Renovation Project – Two-Stage Transformation⁣⁣
A family-friendly entertainer reimagined into a modern home with timeless appeal.⁣⁣

This project unfolded in two carefully planned stages. Stage one focused on lifestyle, opening the home to the backyard with large sliding glass doors and a new hardwood deck — the heart of the home for year-round entertaining. Inside, the kitchen was redesigned to flow outdoors, children gained dedicated retreat spaces, and the master bedroom was reconfigured with a new robe and improved layout.⁣⁣
⁣⁣
Stage two elevated the exterior, converting the carport into a garage, upgrading stormwater drainage, and refreshing the entire façade with a new paint finish to unify old and new.⁣⁣
⁣⁣
Structural challenges, including sinking footings and rotting timbers, were resolved with precision to ensure longevity. Hardwood decking was treated and finished with Intergrain Oil, blending durability with warmth.⁣⁣
⁣⁣
The result is a Fairlight home renovation that enhances functionality while staying true to the home’s character.⁣⁣
