🏛 Custom Mosaic & Marble Inlay at Manly

✨ Following the grand staircase, here is another defining detail of this landmark residence — the intricate stonework within the lift area.

While the previous spaces tested scale and endurance, this one demanded patience, precision, and fine detailing.

🔹 Elevator Floor – Marble Inlay Detail
The elevator interior was finished with a detailed mosaic border surrounding a central diamond layout.
Within such a confined space, the set-out had to be flawless — every line shows.

• Black marble octagons were created by cutting the corners off standard 300×300 black marble tiles
• White marble key inserts were individually cut from white marble, then fitted to complete the inlay pattern

🔹 Lift Lobby Medallion
The lift lobby centers on a custom mosaic medallion, framed by a black marble border.
To achieve crisp lines and clean geometry, the frame was also hand-cut from 300×300 tiles.

🔹 Rose Mosaic Feature
Beyond the lift zone, the residence also included an intricate rose mosaic installed as a feature wall — a rare decorative element that added a softer artistic contrast to the stone finishes.

Sung’s standards were forged here over 14 years ago as part of the tiling team.

🏛 Grand Marble Staircase & Hallway at Manly

✨ Following the bathrooms, here is another defining element of this landmark residence.

This section wasn’t just about tiling; it was a true test of endurance and precision for the team.

🔹 Solid 30mm Slabs – Hand-Cut Precision
Every step was built from solid 30mm marble slabs — both treads and risers were single-piece slabs.
Due to the length and thickness of these massive slabs, standard wet saws were not feasible.
Sung manually cut every single tread and riser on-site using an angle grinder.
It was a grueling process requiring immense physical strength and steady focus to achieve perfect, straight edges on 30mm stone.

🔹 The Massive Landing
The mid-landing was a single, monolithic slab. Delivered oversized, it had to be cut to final size on-site.
It took 8 people to lift it into place — a moment Sung still remembers vividly.

🔹 Hallway & Mosaic Detail
The upper hallway features 300×300 white marble tiles laid in a diamond pattern. Sung personally cut every triangle and border piece to achieve perfect alignment.
The lift lobby features a custom mosaic medallion, framed by a black marble border — with the entire frame also cut by Sung from 300×300 tiles for crisp lines and symmetry.

Mastering the Radius

Finger tiles on a curve look simple — until you try to keep every vertical line dead straight.
Sheet-mounted mosaics naturally fan out and distort on a radius, so we cut the sheets and aligned the tiles piece by piece to achieve zero distortion through the curve.

🛁 Bathroom Tiling in Coogee

The Builder asked:
“The shower screen angle has to sit higher than the door angle…
Can you still make the drainage work?”

“No. It’s impossible.”

🏡 Kitchen & Laundry Tiling at Bondi Junction

✨️ Seamless flow throughout the home.

Continuing the flow from the bathrooms, we used the same porcelain tiles for the Kitchen, Laundry and Hallway.

Instead of matching the bathroom grout, we switched to 'Travertine' for the floors. This warm tone perfectly blends with the adjoining carpet, creating a soft and seamless transition between spaces.

In the laundry, the splashback matches the bathroom feature wall tiles, tying the whole house together and complementing the stone top and joinery perfectly.

Consistent choices create a bigger, more cohesive home.

🏢 Balcony Tiling at Bondi Junction

Incorrect falls in the original installation were causing water to pool against the parapet wall.

✨️ Since sand cement screeding could add extra weight, we reshaped the falls using only a lightweight adhesive system, minimizing additional weight and ensuring proper drainage.

Discreet weep openings were added to the skirting tiles, matching the drainage point in the door frame, to prevent water accumulation and allow the owner to maintain clean glass surfaces easily.
