We had a great day here, on Saturday, with Janet Martin presenting her method of Pelargonium propagation. Janet showed us how she takes cuttings, prepares them for postage, and plants them. Everyone attending had the opportunity to take some prepared cuttings of named varieties home with them. Most had a wander through my gardens, which have recovered better than expected after the severe storm late last month.
We shared a lovely morning tea over question time, then Janet and David had lunch with us before preparing the 60 cuttings to return with them to Western Australia (all with correct biosecurity procedures).
Thank you Janet, and all who attended.
Thank you to everyone who helped us to prepare for the day. Many - both family and friends - helped us clean up after the severe hail storm that left us with roofing destroyed, many trees down, trees left completely bare of leaves, garden plants badly broken and stripped, and fences down.

If you bought small ivy pelargonium plants yesterday, please check that they haven't burned off in the heat. I made the mistake of putting them out on the outside bench in full sun. I've just checked mine the ones that were left and I've found a few that have burned off at the top of the potting mix. They just got too hot yesterday. I've been able to take the tops off some of them and redo the cuttings with rooting hormone and white willow bark powder. If you've got any that have burned off, please let me know and I'll replace or refund.

Janet Martin, a well known pelargonium grower from WA, will be at my place on the morning of Saturday 15th November.
She will be taking 60 cuttings from plants at my place to take back to WA - with all the biosecurity paperwork in place. She would be happy to have people come to see how she prepares cuttings - she has a slightly different method and gets a very high success rate. We will have morning tea and I will have some cold drinks on hand.

We're on the corner of the Cunningham Hwy and Mutdapilly Dip Rd, with our entry being on Mutdapilly Dip Rd - black gate with "Fairview".
Janet will prepare her cuttings for postage to WA and show how she plants her cuttings. Everyone can have a go at preparation of a cutting and I will have samples of a few zonal and stellar pelargoniums so that you can take a prepared cutting home.

Janet works in close association with Jenny Brennan and you can see their plant photos on the page "Perth Pelargoniums and Geraniums". They were recently featured on Gardening Australia.

My gardens will be open for all to browse.
I will have some plants for sale - a few Pelargoniums, lots of succulents, some irises, some desert roses and many other bits and pieces - cash preferred.
Photos of many of my plants can be found on my Lordy's Leaves and Flowers page. Look in the Photos and choose Albums.
