Brick repair work to existing letterbox in Osborne Park
Cut out damaged bricks , clean and prepare area for new brick replacements- job done , good as new.

40 mm pipe water returns .500 mm down from top of wall-roughly at outside ground level, pumps sit just below ground level in pump chamber for maximum head height= no back pressure= better flow.
All 3 filter chambers have .100 mm floor wastes , all valves for flushing are.100 mm valves, even the vortex/swirl filter has the same, we've used .100 mm piping right throughout this system from the bottom drains to the vortex to the main filter chambers, 40 mm returns from water pumps to return pipes inside the pond.
No matter what some 'experts' tell you , water movement in ponds is beneficial to koi.

note; always use pvc primer/cleaner before using pvc glue, it's going in the ground and under concrete you want to be certain you create a great strong bond.

Pond fibreglass all finished in black gel coat, same with filter chambers, this is the stage where the pain starts to ease a little and you really start to see the results for the effort put in by everyone.😉👍

Time for Fibreglass coatings to go onto rendered walls of pond and filter.
First, a coat of resin mixed with catalyst to make the resin go hard , is mixed and rolled onto the walls in a thick coat to make sure we get a good skin on the wall.
Once walls are washed down to remove dust , let dry then ready for first coat of fibreglass matting to be put on.
Next we run a pad sander once dry to sand down flat any sharp bits on the first coat of matting.
Next we put a good thick coat of black Flo Coat to finish the seal, this is brushed on to ensure a really thick coating.

Floor done , many thanks to Vince and Chris for a ripper job- most have commented before on this shape, why so extreme? yes it's extreme but no fish waste sits on the floor, by the fish moving through the water and where there are jets placed in each corner for water returns along with air domes on the bottom drains-there's movement all the time 24/7 365 days a year and that equall's a clean floor, all waste first passes through a large vortex/swirl filter of 2,500 litres settling out heavy solids such as waste and debris, then all water passes through the filtration system.

Walls basically done including filter chambers, Joel and Adrian on the mixer's , me labouring, Chris and Vince starting to spread concrete over the shaped floor. not the easiest job in the world-anything with curves takes a bit longer to do , no mesh in the concrete floor but there's footing mesh and starter bars in the footings sticking out to tie the floor to the footings-ads strength and less chance of cracking and separating.

Next stage after the bricks were loaded into the hole was getting a start on the brickwork, thanks to Vince and Martyn and myself the brickwork didn't take too long over a few weekends, here you can see the walls starting to get a little bit of height. walls at 2 meters high finished.

By this time , footings done and time to bring bricks into the hole and spread around ready for laying.

Time to dig out and pour footings for brickwork, a hot day and it was only achieved because of many friends who came to help as we mixed it with 2 cement mixers and a small army of muscle.

So next stage was the hole was dug and boarding up the sides was needed as we had a few cave ins, this made the job of squaring up for footings much easier and stopped anymore cave ins happening, thus we were able to pour the footings and make a start.

Next Stage,
Got our guys in to do their magic, one on the excavator digging and one removing soil as it piles up, my back certainly wasn't going to dig this one out, 3 x 6 wheeler tip trucks and 2 tip truck trailers.
Note: very important to have good operators on the machines who have experience, Eric and Ivan are two very good operators, thanks fellas.👊
