It's been a long time in writing. Ray and I are finally settling into our new home. Lots to do to make it our own in the garden. Ray now has a shaded area for his orchids. Already full. He is now re-doing our little front garden, changing the fencing, put in our arch we had at Mayflower to welcome visitors and growing a creeper over top. The maggies already love sitting on the arc and natter. Planting roses around the front with some black stemmed Crepe Myrtles. For added colour we will plant some colourful plants in front of roses. Blueberries are being planted near veggie patch and veggies are in small pots ready to be planted. Cow manure coming next week, then I can plant out most of the veggies into garden beds. Still more fruit trees to be planted as well as making a cover to keep birds put. Lots of w**ding happening as it all became overgrown while we took almost 4 months to move everything. Still lots of plants not happy in the move, the cold, rain and no shelter for many. It will take us a good 12 months to sort through all the plants and help them recover, some won't.
Adding a few photos of the work in progress. Lots of love to you all from Ray & Charlotte 🙂🥰💕

Update: Ray & Charlotte have not completely moved to new home. We are still probably 3 weeks away. Travelling to the Great Southern, many trips down & back with van & trailer loads, multiple truck loads and family support with their trailers and ute loads, we are almost there.
Our cat Bella is now well travelled between the two places. She sit just behind our seats. Betwwen us, high enough so she can see out the window and us.
*We now have a large igloo 24ftx6ft for our indoor speciality plants. Not organized yet.
*A place for our cymbidium orchids under shade cloth.
*Two new water tanks 23,000 litres and 12 - IBC's set up to catch 1,000 litres of water each and more coming to ensure we have plenty of water throughout summer to water our plants & fruit trees.
*Have planted multiple fruit trees with more to be planted. Will be protecting them from the beautiful birds soon.
*Planted loads of veggie seedlings in the old chook pen. Thinking they would be protected, only to find a rabbit living in the chook pen & ate almost all of the seedlings. Will try again after we get rid of the rabbit.
*Weather has been icy cold and lots of rain, and strong cold winds, it is winter after all. Had some really beautiful days with a bit of a view to the Porongorups. Looking forward to exploring the area real soon.
**Very grateful to the new owners of our old property for their kindness and support as we make the transition. **
**Also very grateful to the beautiful people who have been supporting us by helping us to cleanup, move, w**d, load up trailers, trucks etc. It has been massive. Thank you.🙂💕

Ray & Charlotte wish to express our gratitude to the many people who have helped us with the cleanup of Mayflower Orchids after the sale of the property.
Update: We have not totally moved. New owners are in the property and have generously allowed Ray & I to say on in our little unit until we have moved completely and it has allowed us time without the pressure to move and cleanup. Have had many people help us and we really appreciate the help.
Our new property is south near Mount Barker, 5 hour travel each way and as you can imagine we have loads of Ray's orchids and other speciality plants to move. A mammoth job. We are finally on the home stretch.
Asking anyone if they have a open trailer around 4 metres x 1.5-2 metres, that we could borrow for a few days to move some of the larger poles etc. If you would like to come for a drive to our new property and stay the night, we would pay for the petrol and feed you. Please phone me on 0417 619 536 if you can help. We would require this within the next two week.
Will give more updates soon.
Keep safe and happy
Regards from Ray & Charlotte 🙂🥰

Ray & I would like to thank everyone who has helped us clean up over the last month to help us get ready for the big move. It has been greatly appreciated and we feel humbled that so many people came out to help us out. Without you we would still be floundering with the massive job we have to move. We are still here as the people who have taken over the property have generously given us time to find another place and to have time to move it all once that place has been found. We are in the process of having our own place again. Thank you all for your kind words and thoughts. We feel very loved and blessed. I wish you all to experience the love and support we have experienced on our journey with Mayflower Garden Centre and beyond. Love to you all.🥰

💦Mayflower Orchids is now closed permanently💦💦Charlotte & Ray thank all our customers for their support, love, kind words and gifts💦We will miss many of our beautiful customers, many have become not just acquaintances but good friends, like family💦We will miss you, but as you all know, we are getting too old to be doing so many hours and with Ray's health issues, we need to slow our pace💦Ray will still be heavily involved with his Cymbidium Orchids, Speciality Plants, Clivias and more💦We place to move near Mount Barker within a month and enjoy sleep-in's if our Cat Bella allows us.💦Mayflower Orchids page will stay active for a period of time, and at some stage we will change the name where you will be invited to follow us💦I plan to set up a 'Ask Ray a Question'. I will be compiling info from Ray to maybe put together to formulate a book in the future. I do not want to lose the knowledge Ray has on plants/gardening etc💦Will give more info later on💦Love to you all💕💦
