Our foster puppy, Nugget, met the herd recently. After recently watching Muster Dogs, I think it's safe to say he's not exactly a natural 😅

Nugget is currently in foster care through CARMAR and will be available for adoption soon. His sister Winnie is now available and ready to find her new home.

Tired of the fuel price increases? We’re piloting a new local taxi service here in Rochester.

Our zero-emissions fleet with 4-leg drive are capable of handling any terrain, especially good for those back-paddock shortcuts. It’s the only taxi that leaves free fertilizer behind—just watch your step when you’re hopping out of the saddle.

Keep an ear out, you’ll be able to book your first goat-commute soon.

Goats have proven to be an unlikely but effective tool in managing wildfire risks. In regions like California and Spain, wildfires have become a growing concern due to dry vegetation that easily ignites during hot summer months. Traditional fire prevention methods, such as mowing or using mechanical equipment, can be costly and damaging to the environment. However, goats offer a natural, sustainable solution. By grazing on dry grasses and plants, they reduce the amount of combustible material that fuels wildfires, making it less likely for flames to spread.

These intelligent animals have become a part of fire prevention teams across the globe, helping landowners, fire departments, and local governments manage vegetation in a cost-effective way. As goats graze on the landscape, they not only reduce fire hazards but also help maintain healthy ecosystems by controlling invasive plant species. Their presence can even reduce the need for chemical herbicides, making the process more environmentally friendly. With their natural grazing habits, goats are playing an essential role in mitigating the destructive impact of wildfires.

The success of using goats for wildfire prevention is a testament to the benefits of working with nature rather than against it. They are a perfect example of how animals can support human efforts in maintaining a balance between ecological conservation and safety. As climate change continues to exacerbate the frequency and severity of wildfires, incorporating goats into fire management strategies offers a sustainable and efficient approach to reducing wildfire risk, ensuring a safer and greener future for all.

No bull.....rush.

Bulrush can play an important role in stabilising soil and protecting waterways. But when it becomes invasive, it can restrict water flow and create management issues.

It’s not always easy to access with machinery due to its proximity to water. No problem for the herd

Here’s the before and after.

Reduce your fuel loads now 🔥

Even though temperatures have eased a bit lately, fire risk is still very real and will continue while conditions stay dry.

This summer has been a big wake-up call for a lot of us. Taking action now helps protect your property, your family, and your livestock.

Have a look around your place and see what you can do to reduce fuel loads — long grass, weeds, blackberries, fence lines and around sheds. Whether it’s goats, a slasher (weather permitting), or a bit of manual work, every bit helps.

Not a sales post — just a friendly reminder.

Thinking of everyone affected by the recent fires in Victoria.

Take care and stay safe out there
