First of all new collection of paintings of Queensland gorges. Trying some new ideas to capture the beautiful light of the Australian landscape. For me, light, colours and shadows connect me with our brilliant country and this is my expression of how nature makes me feel

Gouache can be a tricky medium. It dries quickly and when you layer another colour on top it reactivates the bottom one. So it can get messy. I like using it for studies to quickly capture colours and textures of the landscape as I travel so I can paint some large oil paintings back in the studio.
