Cherry Road by DKO Architecture is a brilliant showcase of how custom materiality can connect a home to its environment. The quiet elegance of Krause Bricks in Ghost grounds the contemporary steel elements, effortlessly drawing the rambling beauty of the surrounding gardens right up to the facade.

This Cremorne Point project by Breakspear Architects is a masterclass in balancing heritage with contemporary design. Hidden behind a traditional Federation frontage, this striking rear addition utilises Krause Emperor Bricks in Ghost to ground the new exterior. The natural warmth of the elongated clay brick creates a strong, highly tactile foundation that perfectly bridges the old and the new.

Each Krause Brick used at Wardle's stunning Burnt Earth Beach House in Anglesea is truly unique, torn by hand prior to cutting to expose a raw, rough-hewn texture.

Plus, with a zero-waste manufacturing process where any excess is recycled, this home is as easy on the planet as it is on the eyes. The raw material is glazed and fired just once, creating intricate, varied reactions in the finish.

The heart of the home, beautifully crafted with Krause Bricks 🔥

A huge thanks to HF Bricklaying for sharing this behind-the-scenes look at their recent fireplace build at this Melbourne home. Their exceptional bricklaying perfectly highlights the textured tones and clean lines of our bespoke clay bricks, creating a stunning anchor for this living space.

Beyond the brick: how craftsmanship shapes a facade.

Every Krause Brick carries its own variations in tone, texture, and form - a quality drawn from the rich Australian clay it’s made from. But the brick is only half the story. How it’s laid, jointed, and finished is what brings a facade to life.

In our new short film by , master bricklayer Bon Rich of walks us through the techniques that make all the difference — from mortar colour and joint depth to the subtle finishes that shape how light moves across the wall.

When designing this beautiful home in Wheelers Hill, Matyas Architects selected Krause Emperor Bricks in Ghost to ground the modern residence within its suburban context, while elevating the facade with rich, handcrafted character.

"Face brick is a predominant material used in the neighbourhood, so that informed our decision to select it. We wanted to do something that wasn't competing with the buildings but related to the existing streetscape. And we wanted a handcrafted feel, so that's where the Krause Emperor bricks come into their own. The bricks achieved the handmade qualities we were looking for, with their subtle variation in finishes and colour."
— John Matyas, Matyas Architects
