PROJECT UPDATE | DISASTER RECOVERY WORKS

Terraforma was recently engaged by Naviq to deliver a 7-metre-high soil-nailed reinforced Terramesh retaining wall on Bloomfield Road near Wujal Wujal, following a major landslide that cut off access for local communities.
These works form part of the DRFA-funded recovery program currently underway across Far North Queensland in response to Tropical Cyclone Jasper (December 2023), addressing slope instability and restoring critical infrastructure in a challenging environment.
Terraforma are proud to be contributing to resilient, engineered solutions that help reconnect regional communities.

Terraforma was pleased to work alongside Georgiou on this extensive project, which involved delivering over 4000 m2 of grouted stone pitching, 800 m2 of Reno mattress, and constructing 1 gabion retaining wall over the course of 12 months. Working in rural areas presented a refreshing contrast, with the project's diverse sites, some over 100 km apart, posing notable logistical challenges. Despite these, the project's complexity and strong team cohesion made it an engaging endeavor.

Terraforma were recently engaged in by Sunshine Coast Council to complete flood rectification works to Menary rd bridge in West Woombye. Significant flooding event in 2024/25 had began to peel back the Shotcrete protecting the bridge abutments. Terraforma were tasked to remove the existing Shotcrete and replace with Gabion toe and side walls and 500 mm thick Reno mattress protection to the abutments. This project had its challenges with access to be constructed within the creek, limited working height under the bridge, design changes, fluctuating water levels due to continued rainfall and strict environmental controls. Despite the challenges Terraforma were able to deliver the project ahead of time and under budget. A big thanks to the team that delivered the project. A job well done.
