The Lakehouse - Western Sydney Lakes

Looking forward to seeing this project move ahead in 2023.

Roof and ground plane follow the same circular plan geometry however they deviate in elevation. The solar roof rises towards the water creating taller anchor spaces overlooking the lake whilst the ground plane dives into the lake, creating easy access to the water as it gently disappears below.

The Lakehouse - Western Sydney Lakes

The transformation of Western Sydney is well underway led by construction of Sydney’s second airport and many significant projects following closely behind. The Lakehouse has been conceived as the anchor destination for the recreation lake, resting on the lakes eastern shore at the foot of the Blue Mountains. When complete, The Lakehouse will open this somewhat unknown location to the people of Sydney for the very first time.

Very excited to hear Froebel Carlton, our recently completed second childcare interior for .australia has been selected and shortlisted for a number of interior design awards including the Australian Interior Design Awards, Better Future Melbourne Design Awards 2022 and the Architizer A+ Awards.

Completed in collaboration with and delivered by the project builds on design principles established in our first Froebel project collaboration. A combination of natural materials, deliberately restrained palette and a sequence of layered spaces combine to support the Froebel vision for early learning care and wellness whilst maintaining a distinct identity and visual link to our first centre.

Peoples Choice voting for the awards closes this Saturday for all categories. Voting is open to everyone, you can head to the following link to vote:

Brickwork was the chosen material by and silvesterfuller as the unifying precinct materiality with each studio selecting a brick unique to their building. Beyond defining the building geometry, the folding of the brickwork on 18 Loftus Street directs views north towards the sun and primary views, increases privacy to neighbouring buildings and lifts to reveal retail spaces at ground providing weather protection to pedestrians.

In 2014 we conceptualised the project including a facade idea which responded to external factors including views, sunlight and proximity. These drivers mapped the building facades and generated rules for opening sizes.

Captured seven years later in this series of images by is the result of this analysis - smaller openings to the base of the building and laneways, growing to larger openings into the sky prioritising views to the city and harbour.

So happy to have shared this project journey with our neighbouring designers:

Silvester Fuller Goes Electric!

Our new studio car, the full electric Hyundai Ioniq 5 arrived just before Christmas last year.

Having weighed the environmental impact of battery tech versus traditional ICE when it came time to update our old car the switch to electric was clear. We join a growing number of Sydney architectural practices including and in making the switch to electric in 2021.

All power to charge the car is fossil fuel free with our studio power coming from renewables and the network in Australia running on green power.

October Recharge

The Silvester Fuller studio will be closed from 1st October to 5th October inclusive for an extended long weekend.

Our super team have been working incredibly from home since June and will continue to do so through until the end of November. Yet we all could benefit from a little rest and recharge.

This extended break is possible under our give one - take one policy. Everyone will be taking an annual leave day and the studio will give an extra day, ensuring we all benefit from a five day long weekend and the much needed rest. This will ensure we’re back fresh and ready for what will be an exciting and busy run through to Christmas and (hopefully) some travel over summer holidays.
