Two levels. Two different subfloor situations. One finished result. 🪵

This Gregory Hills job had a bit of everything. Downstairs was already tiled — but one bedroom had carpet that sat lower than the tiles, so we poured levelling compound to raise it up flush before anything went down. Upstairs was all carpet, which we ripped out to find a timber subfloor that needed planing in spots and levelling compound on the low areas before it was ready.

On top of all that we did the staircase too — previously carpeted, now finished to match.

Throughout the whole home we installed Luxury Hybrid 8mm in Spotted Gum — a warm, classic Australian timber look that ties both levels together beautifully.

We came back. And this time it was the big one — the media room. 🎬

We originally installed floors throughout this Luddenham new build, and the builder called us back to finish off the media and lounge room. This one had a specific brief: 5mm acoustic rubber underlay glued directly to the concrete slab, then Belle Vie 7mm Hybrid Herringbone planks laid on top.

The acoustic rubber is the key detail here. It absorbs sound transmission through the floor — important in a media room where you want the bass to stay in the room, not travel through to the rooms below or next door. It also adds underfoot comfort and acts as a thermal break.

On top of that went the herringbone. Herringbone is a statement pattern — it takes more time to set out and install than a standard straight lay, but the result speaks for itself. The Belle Vie 7mm Hybrid is a tough product that handles the demands of a high-traffic entertainment space.

New build. Same street. Same builder. Two houses done right. 🏠

This Gillieston Heights job was one of a few we knocked out for the same builder in the same street — a main house and a granny flat, all with Avala 6.5mm Hybrid in Spotted Gum. Same builder, same product, same street — footage across two of the homes we completed.

Before any boards went down, the concrete slab needed serious attention. Some big humps that had to come off with the grinder, then we primed and poured self-levelling compound into the low areas to bring everything flat. Proper prep is the difference between a floor that looks great for a year and one that looks great for decades.

Once the slab was right, the install went down smooth. Spotted Gum is a classic — warm reddish-brown tones, strong grain, timeless in any new build. Avala's 6.5mm profile gives it solid underfoot feel without adding too much floor height.
