J & E Asphalt & Civil is a multi-disciplined road works contractor that services New South Wales. Founded by Jim and Elizabeth Vella in 1978, the company began with the simple purchase of a second-hand grader. From there, working against the economic struggles of the times, the business slowly grew from grading kerbs for new subdivisions, to grading sports courts, car parks and roads. By the early

80s, the company evolved from solely undertaking civil works, and branched out into asphalt. A hallmark of J & E as a company has been, and continues to be, its ‘client first’ approach. J & E Asphalt & Civil Pty Ltd is a family owned and operated multi-disciplined road works contractor that services client job sites around NSW. Founded in 1978, we started with one Grader and now have a fleet of over 40 pieces of plant machinery and equipment.

Our sister company has a new Asphalt Manufacturing Plant at South Windsor.

We are currently seeking an experienced, full-time trade qualified Heavy Diesel Plant Mechanic to join our family-owned Asphalt company. We require a person to maintain and repair various road registered vehicles, plant and equipment in our workshop and on the job-site as required and maintaining our asphalt plant.

The successful candidate will have:

A relevant trade certificate & qualification (heavy vehicle mechanic, road transport qualifications essential);
NSW Class C Drivers Licence essential, HR Drivers licence preferred;
Forklift licence is preferred;
Australian industry experience is essential;
Experience in the preventative maintenance, servicing and repair of heavy duty diesel engines;
Experience with road making equipment and vehicles preferred;
Some auto electrical knowledge would be beneficial;
The ability to upkeep and maintain service/maintenance records, and upload them to our system;
Fault finding and diagnostic experience;
Experience in meeting multiple task deadlines;
A commitment to safe work practices;
The ability to work unsupervised;
The ability to pass a fit for work and D&A assessment.

We are currently seeking a reliable, adaptable, and experienced person with a HC Truck licence to join our company as a Truck and Dog Driver. In this role you will be responsible for carting road base materials to our asphalt plant and asphalt to customer job sites predominately through-out the Sydney Metropolitan area.

Your duties and responsibilities as a HC Truck & Dog Driver will include:

Delivery of road base and asphalt, which includes responsibility for compliance with axle weight tolerances
Ensuring customers and the general public are treated in a courteous and professional manner
Vehicle to be presented clean and tidy this includes: washing the truck regularly
Conducting daily checks on the vehicle and reporting maintenance required
Ability to complete documentation associated with collection and delivery of asphalt or road-base materials.

To be considered for a position as a Truck & Dog Driver you must possess the following:

* Heavy combination (HC) Truck licence or greater
* Experience with driving Road-ranger manual/gearbox
* Truck & Dog experience is preferred
* OH&S induction for construction industry (White Card)
* Heavy Vehicle experience is preferred
Good Driving Record
* Demonstrated knowledge of the relevant transport laws and regulations
* Pass a pre-employment Drug & Alcohol test and participate in regular, random testing
* A flexible attitude towards varied start and finish times is a must
