We are thrilled to share a update on our work with the Conservation Society Australia. As construction of the new Taronga Wildlife Hospital takes shape, the vision for a world-class centre of veterinary excellence and immersive public experience is becoming a reality.

To meet the growing need for global conservation leadership, Taronga required an advanced platform that could simultaneously accelerate wildlife recovery and ignite public passion for nature through transparent, "real-time" science. In partnership with Stephen Edwards Constructions, we are building an advanced teaching hospital. This isn't just a clinical space; it’s a sustainable design that invites visitors to witness the journey of recovery firsthand, bridging the gap between the public and conservation medicine.

Upon its late 2026 opening, the hospital will serve as a premier visitor and education hub. By upskilling the nation’s veterinary practitioners and providing students with unparalleled training, we are ensuring a legacy of expertise that protects Australia’s unique biodiversity for generations to come.

Great civic design brings communities together, creating places that are active, inclusive, and built for everyday life.

Designed as a vibrant community hub, the Bundaberg Aquatic Centre brings together competition and leisure pools, family-friendly water play, and flexible spaces that support health, recreation, and social connection. The design responds to Bundaberg’s climate and lifestyle, integrating shade, natural ventilation, and strong connections to landscape to create a resilient facility for all ages and abilities.

The ARCH team wish Scott Chapple well as he showcases the project to AIA jurors next week.

A fantastic opportunity to showcase how well-designed community infrastructure can enhance wellbeing and strengthen regional identity.

Designing for mental health requires a careful balance – creating spaces that are safe, therapeutic, and deeply human.

Purpose-designed to support recovery within a highly secure environment, the Gold Coast University Hospital Secure Mental Health Rehabilitation Unit integrates clinical rigour with a strong focus on dignity. Through access to natural light, landscaped courtyards, and thoughtfully scaled spaces, the design supports both consumer wellbeing and staff care, while meeting complex operational and security requirements.

Wishing Neil Carter all the very best as he showcases the project to AIA jurors next week.

An important opportunity to demonstrate how architecture can positively shape outcomes in mental health and contribute to more compassionate models of care.

Great healthcare design starts with people, understanding community needs, supporting clinical excellence, and creating environments that promote wellbeing and equality of access for all.

Designed to deliver contemporary, patient-centred care for a regional community, the Gunnedah Hospital Redevelopment brings together acute services, expanded clinical capabilities, and welcoming spaces that reflect the identity of Gunnedah.

The design carefully balances operational efficiency with warmth and connection, integrating natural light, intuitive planning, and a strong relationship to landscape to support both patients and staff.

As the community experience specialist, ARCH designs with purpose, grounded in place, and driven by impact.

Wishing Sacha Anderson all the very best as she presents the project to the AIA jurors this week.

A fantastic opportunity to highlight the importance of regional healthcare design and the role architecture plays in strengthening communities.

Designing for conservation means thinking beyond buildings, it’s about creating environments where species, science, and community can thrive together.

Purpose-built to support the breeding, care, and protection of some of Australia’s most vulnerable species, the Taronga Amphibian & Reptile Conservation Centre brings together highly controlled environments, specialist back-of-house research spaces, and carefully curated visitor experiences.

Every design decision balances technical precision with a deep respect for habitat, ensuring the Centre not only functions at a scientific level, but also tells a powerful story about conservation and our collective responsibility to protect biodiversity.

The ARCH team wish Claire Brookman all the very best as she presents the project to the AIA jurors this week.

A fantastic opportunity to showcase the role architecture can play in shaping environmental outcomes and inspiring future thinking.

It’s no small feat to dedicate such a long time to a single practice, particularly so early in one’s career. It is especially notable when your tenure has had a significant impact not only within your home studio as a conscientious project architect and BIM guru, but also as an example to aspiring architects practice-wide. Your readiness and ability to proffer solutions is demonstrative of your dedication to drive considered and successful outcomes beyond that of your project work.

Congratulations Sean on 10 years with ARCH.

"Balancing the scales", this year's powerful theme for International Women's Day, begins with creating opportunities.

In honour of and our commitment to community, we proudly donated to "Confident Girls," an initiative that empowers young girls through netball, helping them build confidence, break barriers, and pave the way for brighter futures.

Our studios also took a moment to celebrate the remarkable women in our lives and participated in industry events that highlight the vital contributions of women in our field.

We invite you to explore the impactful work of Confident Girls, and if you can, consider making a donation to help "balance the scales" by nurturing opportunities!
