I used to dream of someone
who couldn’t bear the thought of losing me—

someone who would protect me,
choose me with intention,
and hold my heart with care.

But how could anyone fear losing me
when I showed them
I’d stay through neglect, silence, and hurt?

I stayed when I should’ve walked away.
I forgave what should’ve been the end.
I loved without boundaries
and mistook it for loyalty.

The truth is,
people rarely value what’s always there.

And now I’m learning
that sometimes the loudest lesson
is felt in my absence.
