One tablecloth… two completely different moods. 🌿🤎

One of my favourite things about styling is looking at the colours within a pattern and deciding which ones I want to bring forward.

Our Native tablecloth has the most beautiful palette of earthy greens, warm browns, soft peach and white, which means there are so many different directions you can take it.

For Part 1, I’m bringing out the greens. 🌿

I’ve started with our natural rectangle jute placemats with green accents, then layered our green and clay dinnerware with the matching native napkin.

Even the beautiful pearl napkin ring adds another little layer of detail.

For the centre of the table, I’ve continued the green with our vase, but rather than making everything match perfectly, I’ve added a beautiful floral arrangement with a pop of pink. 🌸

That’s one of my favourite styling tips: look for colours that complement your table rather than feeling like everything has to match.
Clear glassware finishes the setting without competing with all those beautiful colours and textures.

The result? A fresh, layered tablescape that would be just as beautiful for lunch, dinner or a special occasion.

But we’re not finished with this tablecloth…

Next week I’m taking the exact same Native tablecloth and changing the mood completely, this time with natural, earthy and organic tones. 🤎

Why do picnic tables always look like THIS?

The weather is getting warmer, spring is on its way and that means lunches, picnics and BBQs are heading outdoors again. ☀️🌿

But let’s be honest… those outdoor picnic tables aren’t always the most inviting!

My simple solution? Take the tablecloth with you.

I’ve used one of our Gingham tablecloths to completely transform this ordinary picnic table into somewhere I’d actually love to sit down, unpack the food and spend a few hours with family and friends.
And here’s a little practical styling tip…
Our Gingham tablecloths are a generous 350cm long, so if you’re using one on a shorter picnic table and have too much fabric hanging over the ends — tie it in a knot.
It keeps the excess fabric out of the way, looks relaxed and gives the table a little extra personality.
Sometimes styling isn’t about creating the perfect tablescape.
It’s simply about making wherever you’re gathering feel a little more special. 💛

Our Shared Plates journey… so far. 💚

We thought it was time to sit down, take you behind the scenes and share a little more about us, the people behind Shared Plates.

What started with a love of beautiful tables, entertaining and bringing people together has grown into something much bigger than we first imagined.

Like any small business, the journey hasn’t always been easy. There have been challenges, plenty of learning, lots of hard work and probably even more conversations between the two of us! But there has also been so much excitement, laughter and a genuine passion for what we’re creating.

Shared Plates is evolving too.

While the table will always be at the heart of where we began, our vision is growing into the wider home, helping you style beautiful, welcoming spaces in a way that feels achievable, personal and, most importantly, like you.

And we’re only just getting started. 🌿
Over the coming weeks, we’ll be sharing more of our journey, what we’ve learnt along the way and some very exciting things happening behind the scenes at Shared Plates.

One plate set. Three completely different looks 🌿

Most of us have a simple white dinner set tucked away at home, but that doesn’t mean your table has to look the same every time you use it.

So today I’m showing you three ways I’d style the same white plates simply by changing the tablecloth, placemats and napery.

🌿 Look 1 — Gingham
With its light and dark greens and touch of soft pink, I chose the natural jute placemat with the green accent to pick up the colours in the tablecloth. Finished, of course, with a napkin and pearl & gold napkin ring, I just can’t resist that little extra detail!

🌸 Look 2 — Floral
This beautiful green and blue floral deserves to be the hero, so I’ve kept everything else simple. Round natural jute, white plates and a soft napkin allow the pattern to do the talking.

💚 Look 3 — Green
A plain tablecloth can sometimes feel a little flat, so this is where texture and pattern make all the difference. I’ve added the warm white jute placemat, the same white plate and, instead of buying something new, brought back the green gingham napkin to add interest and personality.

That’s what I love about styling, you don’t always need more. Sometimes it’s simply about looking at what you already have differently and changing the layers around it.

Part 2 | Same tablecloth, a whole new look. 🌿

Last week I showed you how I styled this beautiful native floral tablecloth on a round table. Today, it’s the rectangle table’s turn and it’s amazing how one piece can create such a different feel.

To complement the larger table, I’ve added a natural jute runner with soft green accents to bring warmth and define the centre of the setting.
Instead of one vase, I’ve used two matching Jarrah green ripple vases filled with fresh wattle from my garden, creating balance and drawing your eye down the length of the table. Between them sits a green pedestal bowl overflowing with lemons and garden foliage, bringing colour, freshness and a little touch of everyday beauty.

It just goes to show that you don’t need to overcomplicate styling. A few thoughtful layers, natural elements from the garden, and pieces that work together can create a table you’ll love sitting around every day.

Part 1 | Everyday Table Styling 🌿

You don’t need a special occasion to create a table that makes you smile.

For this first look, I’ve styled a round table using our beautiful Native Floral tablecloth, with its soft sage greens and warm walnut tones creating a calm, natural foundation.

The real hero of this tablescape is the wattle, freshly picked from my garden and arranged in our Jarah green ripple vase. Although there isn’t any yellow in the tablecloth, the soft golden tones of the wattle beautifully complement the overall colour palette and bring a little piece of nature indoors.

To keep the table practical for everyday living, I’ve added mango wood bowls filled with berries and a nut mix, along with a marble and timber serving board holding fresh lemons from the garden, a jug of water and a couple of glasses, ready for whatever the day brings.

One of my favourite things about styling is knowing when to stop. Sometimes the flowers are enough to make a statement on their own, and the simplest styling creates the most beautiful spaces.

Beautiful food deserves a beautiful table. 💙🍽️

For me, entertaining isn’t just about what’s on the menu, it’s about creating a table where everyone feels welcome to gather, share and enjoy good food together.

Tonight’s dinner is served on our Blue Bell Vine collection. The hand-painted serving bowl and platter beautifully complement the deeper blue tones of the matching tablecloth, creating a layered look that’s elegant yet effortless.

I’ve served the green beans and roasted cherry tomatoes in the statement bowl, while feta and olives are nestled into individual bowls so everyone can help themselves to exactly what they love. The Greek-style chicken takes centre stage on the matching platter, ready to be shared around the table.

Finished with natural round jute placemats, soft blue dinnerware, matching Blue Bell Vine napkins and mother of pearl napkin rings, this tablescape is all about bringing family and friends together.

Because the best meals aren’t just eaten...

They’re shared. 💛
