Our blades…..a closer look!
Did You Know? - All About Your Thermomix® Blade!
Your Thermomix blade is one of the hardest-working parts of your machine - chopping, grinding, kneading, stirring, and even cooking at high temperatures!
Here are a few blade facts you might not know:
Warranty:
The Thermomix® blade (mixing knife) comes with a 1-year warranty from the date of purchase - this is separate from the main Thermomix unit warranty.
It covers:
Manufacturing defects or faults during normal domestic use. It does NOT cover:
Wear and tear, damage from improper use (e.g., dropped, forced, disassembled), or commercial usellette
Lifespan:
With regular daily use (1-3 times a day), most blades will last around 2-3 years. If you cook less frequently, it can last even longer.
Keeping it Sharp:
While the blade won't ever "go blunt" in the traditional sense, it can wear down over time
especially if you frequently grind hard items like spices or ice. To maintain efficiency:
Use speed settings appropriately
Avoid dropping the blade or using it with the wrong accessories
Alternate chopping directions by using the reverse mode when needed.
The Green Seal (Blade Base Seal):
That little green rubber seal on your blade base is essential for leak-proof cooking.
Always check it's in good condition - no
cracks or warping
Clean it thoroughly but gently
Don't remove it unless absolutely necessary - frequent removal can stretch it and affect the seal
Replace it if you notice leaks, wear, or if it's been over 2 years. Seals are available in the Mix Shop
Signs Your Blade Needs Replacing:
You see a brownish oily liquid in the centre of your base where the blade sits
You spot tiny green plastic bits in the bowl base
When you hold the blade at the top and bottom, you can move them independently - that should never happen!Cleaning Tip:
Use the Green Bristled Brush from the Mix Shop. So perfect for getting underneath those blades and removing food. I use it everytime I wash. Use you bowl brush to clean the blade and housing.
If your blade isn't turning as smoothly, you're noticing leaks or unusual sounds, or spot any of the signs above - it's time to grab a new blade from the Mix Shop
