New Residential Build | Banora Point, NSW

This Banora Point waterfront home isn’t quite finished, but I couldn’t resist sharing a first glimpse.

The full reveal will have to wait, but the entry already hints at what’s to come; a space that quietly sets the tone for the entire home.

An oversized solid timber front door & statement handle create an immediate sense of warmth & anticipation. Inside, large-format warm grey stone-look tiles & softly textured white slimline brickwork establish a timeless, understated palette.
With ceilings soaring over 8 metres high, the feature brick wall becomes the hero of the space. Its subtle variation in texture & tone creates movement & depth, proving that a restrained material palette can still make a powerful statement.

Oversized handwoven pendants, the warmth of Blackbutt timber & a floating skeleton staircase complete the composition, while the spectacular raked ceilings & breathtaking waterfront outlook are just a hint of what’s still to come.

One of the things I love most about this space is that it reminds us you don’t need bold colours or elaborate finishes to create impact. Scale, texture, proportion & natural materials can be just as powerful when they’re thoughtfully combined.

Guided by ILKA’s vision for oversized woven feature lighting, the client selected handcrafted pendants that beautifully complement the home’s architectural palette. Framed by crisp white ceilings and the grand white brick feature wall, they add warmth, texture and an organic quality that enhances the scale and character of the space.

Stair detail | The interplay of white brick, soft greys and warm timber brings depth and warmth to an otherwise restrained palette. A striking floating staircase appears to effortlessly rise from a custom timber platform, creating a sculptural focal point that celebrates craftsmanship, texture and timeless design.

Renovations are never just about the plan

A clear vision, strong spatial planning & thoughtful layouts are essential in any renovation; but once walls come down, reality can (& often does) reshape the original idea.

In this main bathroom, we had planned to relocate the bath & the toilet. Once the space was opened up, existing beams & structural constraints meant moving plumbing through key structural zones would have been costly & impractical. As a result, the toilet needed to remain in its original position & the bath layout was rethought.

Renovations demand more than good design, they require flexibility, problem-solving, patience, & trust. From the design team to the builder & client, everyone needs to stay open to change while keeping the end goal firmly in sight.

This was truly a collaborative effort, & the result speaks for itself. An outcome that feels resolved, considered, and beautifully executed … even if it wasn’t exactly where we started.

River front Residence | Main Bathroom Renovation | Tweed Heads, NSW.

The transformation of this main bathroom is truly remarkable, while remaining respectful of its original design. When the home was built over 30+ years ago, the bathroom was considered luxurious for its time. However, elements such as the stepped spa and ageing joinery no longer aligned with the way we live or, design today.

The space has been thoughtfully reworked to meet contemporary standards, without losing a sense of warmth or intention. Soft, sandy-toned tiles are used across both floor & walls to create a calm, cohesive base, while a stunning conglomerate-look feature wall tile adds depth & a refined focal point.

The client came to us with clear requests and requirements, which from a designer’s perspective is invaluable in guiding layouts, selections & materials. Matte-finish bath, toilet & basin, coloured tapware, & arched LED mirrors were all essential elements, shaping the direction of the design from the outset.

Custom fluted joinery adds texture & craftsmanship, while brushed brass tapware & accessories bring a refined warmth & luxurious feel throughout. Every detail was carefully considered.

The result is a timeless, resolved bathroom, beautifully suited to modern living.

Kirra Beachfront Apartments | Master Ensuite

Part of a full interior renovation, selections & styling project for this original beachfront apartment held within the same family for over 30 years.

Working within older apartment buildings always brings an added layer of complexity. Angled walls, existing plumbing locations, bulkheads & structural constraints that often can’t be relocated. With compact bathroom proportions, thoughtful planning & clever storage solutions became essential to ensure the space felt both beautiful & highly functional.

With the client living remotely throughout the renovation, clear communication, detailed selections & collaborative planning were key to ensuring the project continued to move forward seamlessly despite the distance. Every challenge was carefully worked through to create a cohesive & considered outcome.

One of the biggest pivots during the renovation was reselecting our feature tile after the original selection arrived below our standards. While unexpected at the time, it ultimately led us to this beautiful marble-look tile that now ties seamlessly into the wider apartment palette.

Golden timber tones were introduced through the vanity to pull the subtle warmth from the veining within the tiles, softening the overall space & creating a calm, elevated coastal feel.
