A Rainy Day Expression!
_ From the Everyday Practice of Stha-Kalpa Architects

A 4-storied peri-urban apartment building shaped by compact planning and honest material expression.

The ground floor accommodates parking, while a duplex unit spans part of the ground and first floor. The upper two floors host two apartments per level, ensuring compact and efficient yet comfortable living.

Exposed brick, clean plastered surfaces, and perforated screens respond to light, ventilation, and privacy. Balconies and green edges soften the built form here, especially under the calm rhythm of rain.

A Simple Apartment, Thoughtfully Shaped by Climate & Craft!

A refined take on simplicity, this three-storied residence shows how a modest apartment can achieve a strong architectural identity.

Clean volumes and a careful balance of solid and void create depth, shadow, and a composed façade. Expression comes through proportion and layering rather than excess. Exposed brick adds warmth and texture, paired with smooth white surfaces for contrast. Perforations subtly filter light and air.

Designed for the tropical climate, deep balconies, shaded openings, and green edges reduce heat gain, improve ventilation, and enhance everyday living comfort.

এপার্টমেন্ট ভবনে পশ্চিম দিকের বারান্দাগুলো সাধারণত বহুল ব্যবহৃত হয়—বিশেষ করে দৈনন্দিন কাজ যেমন কাপড় শুকানোর জন্য। আবার একটি ভবনের পশ্চিম পার্শ্বে সলিডিটি রাখা ভবনের তাপমাত্রা নিয়ন্ত্রনের দিক থেকে যেমন প্রয়োজন, তেমনি কার্যকারিতার দিক থেকেও গুরুত্বপূর্ণ। তাই এই ভবনের পশ্চিম পার্শ্বে নিয়ন্ত্রিত ও শৃঙ্খলাবদ্ধ বারান্দা ব্যবহার করা হয়েছে।

ফ্যাসাডে গ্রুভ লাইন, রিদমিক ওপেনিং এবং টয়লেট ভেন্টগুলোর ছান্দিক বিন্যাসের মাধ্যমে একটি ব্যালান্সড ও নান্দনিক কম্পোজিশন তৈরি করার চেষ্টা করা হয়েছে—যেখানে ফাংশন ও ফর্ম একসাথে কাজ করে।

"স্থপতি বা আর্কিটেক্ট" দুইটা-শব্দই ব্যাপকভাবে ব্যবহৃত হচ্ছে দেশজুড়ে। প্রতিটা শহরেই গড়ে উঠছে এমন সব প্রতিষ্ঠান যার পরিচালনা পর্ষদ বা স্বত্তাধিকারি কেউই স্থপতি নন অথচ প্রতিষ্ঠানের নামের সাথে ''আর্কিটেক্ট'' লেখা রয়েছে।। সাধারণ মানুষ, বাড়ির মালিকসহ সংশ্লিষ্ট সবাই সেবা নিয়ে প্রতারিত হচ্ছেন।

বেশিরভাগ প্রতিষ্ঠানের সাইন বোর্ডে লেখা থাকে,
* এখানে আর্কিটেকচারাল ডিজাইন/কনসালটেন্সি করা হয়, অথবা
* এখানে অভিজ্ঞ আর্কিটেক্ট ও ইঞ্জিনিয়ার দ্বারা বাড়ির প্লান ও থ্রিডি ডিজাইন করা হয়, অথবা
* বুয়েট/চুয়েট/অন্যান্য আর্কিটেক্ট ও ইঞ্জিনিয়ার দ্বারা বাড়ির ডিজাইন করা হয়, বস্তুত

-এরা কেউই স্থপতি/আর্কিটেক্ট নন!

কোন স্থপতি/আর্কিটেক্ট এধরণের পোষ্টার/সাইন বোর্ড ব্যবহার করেন না। বাংলাদেশ স্থপতি ইন্সটিটিউট কর্তৃক এধরণের প্রচারণায় নির্দিষ্ট বিধানাবলী প্রণিত আছে।
