Tomato flowers usually open during the day.These little yellow stars open when the weather is right and close as they reach the end of their bloom. Their petals may only last a short time, but their purpose is important each flower holds the potential for a future tomato 🍅⭐🌼🌱

I'm happy to have a space where I can share a little more about my garden and what I've learned along the way. Sometimes social media moves so fast that it's hard to reach people or say what you really want to say.

I remember creating a blog on WordPress many years ago, back in Costa Rica. Looking back now, I think I was trying to discover things about myself. It's funny how, when I read those old posts today, everything seems connected, even though I didn't realise it at the time.

In my last candle-making workshop, someone asked how I dry my calendula flowers.
Usually, I simply spread them out on a dry towel and let them air-dry naturally, it takes time, but it works.

Of course, there are quicker methods too. A dehydrator is great if you need to speed things up (it’s on my wish list!), but every new tool is an investment to think about. I definitely want to improve my processes but everything takes time and money.

With my latest harvest, the flowers were a little too humid, so I gave them a gentle helping hand, I placed them in the oven at very low heat until they were completely dry. For infusions, this step is especially important, as any remaining moisture can lead to mold growth.

I think next time we come back to Offaly, it will be the day to cover the calendula patch and let it rest for the winter 🌼
