Here's some progress photos of a major addition and renovation thats on going. Here we have some before and afters so far from demo to new framing.

So far we have demoed the exterior brick, siding soffit fascia existing roof in areas needed to complete new framing.

We have demoed areas of the house thats being renovated.

Framed new front and back addition on new foundations and tieing in the different roof lines.

We have been able to open up into the new additions from the existing now that the existing roof is tied into the girders and roof have been shingled by "others".

We have changed locations of windows along with the stairwell going into the basement. Lots more work yet to come!

Here's a small RE&RE bath we have done. The previous shower leaked it was not waterproofed luckily the vapour barrier on the exterior wall was present or this could have been alot more serious.

We installed new drywall, tub, waterproofing and tile.

We helped the homeowners out by speeding up the process of there renovations needs.

No project to small or big.

We love educating! The best part about it is better building practices! Spreading common knowledge helps homeowners complete a project correctly.

Here is a common error we run into.. tiled showers which have not been waterproofed. The importance of having a tiled wet application waterproofed is extremely important!! We really cannot say it enough.

Tiles and grout are not waterproof and these pictures allow you to see that. One hit of a hammer and the tile and drywall quiet literally crumbled the only thing that saved their exterior wall from any major rott and deterioration was the vapour barrier which needed to be replaced. Lucky for them this shower was on an exterior wall.

Unfortunately it's not so often practised even in new built homes as it's not a "Building code compliance" it's not regulated, however TTMAC "Terrazzo, Tile, Marble Association of Canada" provides proper industry standards of "proper installations" wet applications such as showers and baths is one of many!!! Different applications they reccomend should be installed as such.

Two of the most common ways to waterproof are Schluters Kerdi Membrane phenomenal product! Or a CBU "Concrete Board with a roll on rubber membrane.

Schluters product is a bit more expensive less labour by far.. one day install of membrane next day tile install.

CBU backer with roll on membrane minimum 2 coats if not more depending the coverage and your waiting for each coat to dry for the alotted time which takes away from a schedule it takes much longer to get to the tiling stage not to mention more labour.

As far as cost to install schulters is a bit more expensive but labour is much less and makes your project get completed that much quicker.

If your are going to have a wet application "shower, bathtub, walk-in shower etc" tiled waterproof it.
