Since its inception, Tried and True has been committed to producing exceptional plant material and introducing outstanding varieties to the market place. urseries across Western Canada and parts of the United States. We offer a diverse selection of over 150 premium varieties of annuals from the traditional to the new and unusual. Our plant specialists make annual trips overseas to meet and collaborate with leading international breeders and young plant suppliers in search of innovative varieties as well as improvements on existing ones. Through propagation, comprehensive growing trials and testing, the pending varieties are assessed on a wide range of criteria from flowering, growth habit, disease tolerance and adaptability and performance in various climatic conditions. Only a handful of plants pass our rigid testing and trial process to join the Tried and True line each year.

Growing tomatillos is quite similar to growing tomatoes - requiring full sun, warm temperatures and deep planting of seedlings to thrive. Tne important difference: you need at least two or three plants to get any fruit. They are self-incompatible, meaning a single plant can produce hundreds of flowers but will rarely set fruit without another plant for cross-pollination. Remember, the fruit is ready and ripe when the husk turns tan and breaks open.
