I don’t talk about myself much, but I figured it was time to share a bit about the story behind Pivotal General Contracting.
Before the business, before the projects, before the name, I was a 15-year-old kid roofing in the summer.
I started because it paid cash, and at that age, the hourly rate was better than most other jobs I could get. At first, it was just work. But over time, the trades became where I learned the most.
I went from roofing into framing, welding, hydraulics, pipe fitting, plumbing, electrical, tile, machine shop work, and eventually aerospace machining. While pipe fitting, I moved into the machine shop and started making the parts we were using in the field.
At one point, I even went to school with the idea of getting into medicine. I was drawn to helping people, understanding complex systems, and doing work that mattered. But the hands-on side of building and solving real-world problems kept pulling me back.
That path shaped the way I see construction.
A good contractor is not just someone who can swing a hammer. A good contractor understands how things connect: structure, materials, mechanical systems, finishes, and how one trade affects another.
I have also learned that this business is built on trust.
I believe in being loyal to the trades I work with. I believe a man’s word should mean something. And I believe money can come and go, but your reputation follows you.
That is the mindset I bring to every project: do the work properly, treat people with respect, and stand behind your name.
That is the person behind Pivotal General Contracting.
