Nova Clinics in the Fairmont Medical Building in Lethbridge, Alberta. A wellness clinic, pharmacy, and medical clinic brought together across 7,630 square feet as one calm, cohesive environment.

Every design decision in this space was made with how people feel in mind, from the curves at reception that lower perceived stress, to the ceiling heights that shift as you move from public to clinical zones, to the staff break room that gives the team somewhere genuinely comfortable to reset between patients.

Built in collaboration with Silver Ridge Construction | Construction Management. Full project story linked in bio.

Our Calgary office design for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is nominated for a MASI Design Award, and People’s Choice voting is open until September 14th.

This one was a challenge we loved: a 24,959 sq. ft. commercial fit-out on a compressed timeline, designed to express organizational values through proportion, light, and material rather than opulence. The backlit dome by Space Ceiling at reception, moss wall, warm wood tones, and sculptural details came together into something that feels genuinely serene.

Calgary has been leading North America in adaptive reuse for years, and having worked on a number of these projects here, I find them some of the most interesting and challenging briefs we take on. The buildings that convert best are the ones with genuine character worth keeping, and the design thinking required is genuinely different from starting from scratch.

We recently wrote about the Domino Sugar Refinery in Brooklyn as one of the most compelling examples of this done right. Full article linked in bio.

One of the highlights of a recent trip to New York was seeing the Domino Sugar Refinery in Brooklyn up close. Once part of the largest sugar refinery in the world, it has been transformed into a modern office building while keeping the soul of the original structure intact, a new glass building constructed within the historic brick shell rather than replacing it.

As Calgary and other cities continue to look at underused office buildings as opportunities rather than problems, there is a lot to learn from projects like this. Sometimes the most interesting buildings are not the ones we build from scratch, but the ones we find a new purpose for.

New York has a way of reminding you what great design feels like when you are surrounded by it. The entrances, the restaurants, the buildings that have been given entirely new lives without losing what made them special in the first place. Came home with a full camera roll and a lot to think about.

Last week, I shared an article about what project leadership really looks like in commercial interior design. Not the polished final photos, but the conversations, decisions, and coordination behind the scenes that determine whether a project stays on track or begins to unravel. Here are three key takeaways. If you're planning a commercial fit-out, office conversion, healthcare project, or workplace renovation, I hope you'll find the full article valuable.

Behind every Aray project is a team that is genuinely good at what they do and genuinely invested in getting it right. Ravneet and Rose handle the drawings, renderings, technical coordination, and visual presentations that move a project from concept to permit to client approval. They are also, without exception, the kind of people you want in your corner on a complex project: thorough, calm, and creative in the ways that matter on a construction site. Swipe through to meet them.

Beckhoff's first office in Alberta: 2,400 square feet of office space for this software company specializing in control technology.

The brand's red is bold and recognizable, which made restraint the real design challenge here. We kept it concentrated in focus areas rather than letting it dominate every surface, the same neurological design thinking we bring to every project: a space someone occupies for eight hours a day needs to support attention, not compete for it.

A built-in bench at reception turns the arrival moment into a considered space that can double for product demonstrations. Demountable glazing keeps natural light moving through the floor plan. Construction started in November 2025, and the space is taking shape.

Three things your space is communicating right now … whether you designed it to or not.

Every commercial space sends signals. To clients, to patients, to staff, to anyone who walks through the door. The question isn’t whether your space is communicating, it’s whether it’s saying what you want it to say.

Swipe through for the three signals that matter most and the questions worth asking about your own space.
