We were originally called out to help a customer relocate a gas line while they were building an addition onto their patio. The plan was to install a dual BBQ box to supply both their new fire table and barbecue.
While on site, we took a closer look at the existing HVAC equipment and noticed several items from the original installation that needed attention.
Here’s what we found:
Air conditioner sitting on a wall bracket but not properly bolted down
Copper refrigerant lines at the condenser and evaporator coil not properly insulated
PVC condensate drain not strapped or secured, leaving it vulnerable to accidental damage
Furnace and ductwork not properly sealed, allowing a significant amount of air to leak into the mechanical room
We were able to take care of much more than the original gas-line request:
Relocated the gas line
Installed the gas connection for the customer's dual BBQ setup
Properly sealed the furnace and ductwork
Secured and strapped the PVC condensate drain
Properly insulated the air conditioner refrigerant lines
Properly bolted the air conditioner to its mounting bracket.
Just because you bought a new home doesn't always mean everything was installed perfectly.
