Still more work to do in the garden, but most of it is doing well. I think we may end up with garlic earlier than expected at this rate.

I need to get the tomato supports in, which I lowered by 2 feet to make life way easier. And still some weeding to do.

Looking to do a full garden tour soon. We will share what is and is not working so far this year.

Another fairy egg was laid today. Our flock that lays the most eggs only gave this tiny one today, where most days we get 7 from the 11 hens. They did have a stressful day though, as we had some work being done, and they were not a fan of the added noise. Hopefully that means tomorrow will be productive.

On a side note, the other flock that normally lays 5 eggs a day gave us 7, so they tried to pick up some of the slack. We call that teamwork 😂

I am positive this is the smallest egg we have had, maybe the size of a quarter. If I had to guess, there would be no yolk in this one.

These little ones got to experience the outdoors this week. They are enjoying some extra space to play, practice their kicks, and all the foraging opportunities.

I sat with them for a bit tonight and it was fun seeing them try different plants, and one of the roosters decided to put a bumblebee on the menu.

I also gave them a bit of the food the adults get, just because they normally love it as a treat. But when they were outside, dry food was the last thing they were interested in.

First day of the farm table,-share being at the market. We had lots of plant starts and jams. It may have rained a lot, but that still couldn't stop our committed community members from coming out to do some shopping.

Each week the products being offered will change based on what is in season. Stop in each week to see what is available at our shared table, and what all the other amazing vendors have. There is something for everyone.

Bonus. On the way home I had this black bear run across the road, but it was kind enough to stop for a quick picture.it was the second bear I saw in about a 20min span.

Really looking forward to being a part of this collaboration with other local homesteads and producers. It's great to be part of such an amazing and supportive community.

The Lions Head Farmers Market is every Saturday from 9am to 12pm, and they stay open until 1pm on holidays. Hope to see you there!!!

We're excited to share some awesome news!! A handful of us homesteaders and small producers up here on the Northern Bruce Peninsula have been invited by the to participate in their Farmshare Table Program! We had a few zoom meetings and have decided to give it a go! 🤝

Starting June 6th, we will begin taking turns attending the market with our available produce pooled together on one convenient table for market patrons to buy. This means more options and quantity for our customers and a chance to join the market when we may not have had a chance to with limited produce on our own.

We all feel great about collaborating with one another and are looking forward to adding our high quality produce to the market and getting to mingle with all of you! See you at the Market, June 6th and look for the Farmshare Table Sign!! 😁

Talk about bed head. These birds have been really developing their feathers, but still have the fluff on their heads.

And for some reason, they enjoy jumping into their food. I sat there and watched them take turns. They were not eating, just exploring l.

3 weeks old, and we can now just start to distinguish which are hens and which are roosters. Although they will stay together for a few more weeks.before being separated.

They are growing quickly, so soon they will get to have some outdoor time, which we always look forward to.

This plum tree looks quite happy with all its blossoms. Such a beautiful site to see.

We have 2 other plums, all different varieties. One of these just started to set blossoms and the other has not started yet.

2 weeks ago it was snowing, and today it's summer like weather. I need a slow progression to acclimate from freezing to sweating 🥵.

And yeah, I complain about all weather. Unless it's 55 degrees, overcast and no bugs, than you will just see pure smiles and a work drive like no other. And the good news is thats in the forecast later this week 😊
