Getting a few questions on poly B pipe, I’m guessing there’s a FB post going around. Poly B was used mid 80’s to late 90’s. it’s no longer legal because it will break down over time especially in direct sun. When it bursts you have an unbelievable flood. It also lets oxygen into the water system and causes a green slime to come out of faucets and causes rust in boiler systems. It’s easy enough to replace with pex just ensure the fittings are compatible with poly b pipe. Before you panic too much, check around the fittings and rings for rust or green corrosion, feel exposed pipe for swelling, a general inspection of the water system. No matter what type of water lines in your house, make sure you know where and how to turn off the main line and the valves actually work. Any questions feel free to give MCN a call
