Before I did alarms I specialized in LED Lighting. I stopped 5 years ago but then a church called and I decided to come out of LED retirement for one last special project - St Joseph's in Kentville.

Simple Fall Tune-Up Tips for Your Security Cameras 🍂

🧽 Clean the lenses
💡 Balance the lighting
⏰ Check the time settings after the daylight savings change

Hey everyone,

Just a quick seasonal reminder from the field — a few small checks can make a big difference in how well your camera system performs, especially as the days get shorter.

1️⃣ Clean your cameras.
Dust, rain spots, and cobwebs love camera lenses this time of year. Even a single strand can reflect infrared light straight back into the lens and completely blind your night vision. A quick wipe every month or two keeps things crystal clear. For higher-mounted cameras, there are inexpensive telescopic cleaners that reach 20 feet or more — no ladder required.

2️⃣ Check your lighting.
Low-light cameras are good, but they’re not magic. If your cameras face an area where bright foreground light hides the background, or there’s a deep shadow zone, add a small solar motion light to fill in that area. It evens out the contrast and makes night footage dramatically sharper.

3️⃣ Adjust your system time for daylight savings.
This one gets overlooked all the time! When clocks roll back, camera systems don’t always update automatically. That can cause scheduled recordings or motion alerts to trigger at the wrong times — or even make footage look “missing” because of time gaps. Take a minute to double-check your system clock under the settings menu.

These three quick checks — clean, light, and time — will keep your system reliable when you need it most.

If you ever need a hand or want me to give your setup a seasonal tune-up, just give me a shout. Stay safe and secure,

Gerald

Fresh from the printers - Lawn Signs and Warning Stickers!

I’ve had some lawn signs and stickers printed up for my customers — nothing fancy, just a clear message:
This house is protected. Find somewhere else.

The truth is, the best security system is the one no one ever tries. A sign out front can be enough to make a would-be criminal think twice.

These are free for my customers, so if you’d like one just send me a message and I’ll set one aside and find a way to get it to you.

And if you’ve been thinking about upgrading your security, let’s chat. Every sign in a yard makes our whole neighborhood that much safer.

Not the kind of activities we wish to see in the Valley. Likely this vehicle and its plate are also stolen but if not, I hope they are caught. License plate appears visible. Please share!!

One of our minis decided to follow me into the house instead of back into the barn where she was supposed to go. 😅

This camera is our 5MP AI Color Deterrent camera running in covert day/night mode which won't allow the IR or white light LEDs to come on so it can stay hidden. Deterrents are turned off until after midnight when the camera switches to active mode.

- CAUTION: Mini-horses being cute caught on camera -

Its not always bad things getting caught on security cameras. Sometimes its mini-horses racing around the guy trying to fix the fence. Sometime they take off with his tools.

This camera is our dual lens Thermal/Visual camera. One lens is a 2.1 MP visual camera, the other a thermal camera that sees differences in temperature and displays it in various user selected colors. The camera knits the two images together and can display it as separate images or together as one, including picture in picture display.

The thermal camera can see in zero lighting. It can detect very slight differences in heat to monitor for fire or any change in temperature. It is sensitive enough to detect the heat from a cellphone being used, and can be used to enforce no smoking areas with verbal warnings. As you can see it is sensitive enough to see the horses feet warming the snow leaving a trail of heat.

This camera is also equipped with AI which will recognize humans and vehicles like our other security cameras.

Contact us today for more information on these and other cameras.
