We (Doug) attended the 's Fall Meetings in Ottawa last week. He took part in the Canadian Renovators' Council and, as a member of the CHBA's Board of Directors, the national strategic planning session and board meetings.
Being at this national table keeps Frontiers ahead of where renovation in Canada is heading, from renovator licensing to future-proofed, adaptable homes.
👉 "Major initiatives are happening in the renovator sector making for some exciting and impactful times. The renovator sector is the substantial driver of residential economic activity. It's critical we support the industry's growth, advance professional development, as well as enhance consumer protection and confidence."
Some of the key takeaways from the week include:
▪ Renovator licensing: a working group supporting each provinces' efforts towards renovator licensing.
▪ Accessibility and "accessible-ready" homes: a new memorandum from the Adaptiv Home program that sets accessibility standards for residential construction.
▪ Renovation is a huge economic driver: for the past few years, renovations have make up roughly half of the housing-sector's economic activity; so we're working to grow renovator membership and the RenoMark program.
▪ Board meetings and strategic planning: the association is in a period of renewal, and a new 2027 strategic plan is set to roll out early next year.
▪ New national CEO: Scott Fash was announced as CHBA's new CEO. He joins from BILD Alberta.
Frontiers is proud to be on the Canadian Renovator's Council at the CHBA National, and we're looking forward to what's in store. 👊
