Today had a change of plans. We went from freezing nights and cool days to smoking hot real quick!
The cows didn't have a great place for shade so we fixed that. Will got this shade shelter up for them so they have some relief. The shelter is nicknamed the scratching post... all the cows seem to love it so far

I was able to get the potato patch in today and do some watering in between helping with the shelter. We have an artisan well so for the garden we have a jet pump to run the sprinkler... of course we set it all up yesterday and the pump doesn't work. I have been watering with the hose but it is awfully slow... we need rain.

Anyone good at rain dancing? I got 2 left feet but I will join in

What a beautiful stroll around the yard!
We have pear, apple, cherries, plum and haskaps in bloom. We have groomed some of the wild plum trees on the yard and a couple have flowers

My dream is to one day have a little orchard with well established fruit. I got a few blueberry bushes and josta berries to put in somewhere this year too! Year by year chip away at adding more

Busy day and so much work to be done yet!!!
Got the celery in, lots of onions in. So amazing how a tiny little thing will turn into a big onion (thats the hope at least!)

This year feels so behind on the farm. Chip away at it and it shall be what it is!
Really hope for rain soon, its incredibly dry in the garden. Like planting in powder

We checked our little honey hole spot, not a ton out there but we came home with a bit!
These are morel mushrooms, common in the spring. They are one of my favorites. Also beginner friendly as they don't have much for look alikes
The kids had tons of fun, our smallest (2) was very unsure about them.. but she helped sing for them
"Mushroom, mushroom, jump in my pail!"

It helps you see them better if you sing to them right? 😆

Of course I had to make a multiseed for our home as well. This toasted was absolutely unreal!

Nom, nom, nom!!
The girls (and boy) have kept the grass pretty trim inside the pen. Since the yard is fully fenced we are trialing a treat night and letting them nibble the long grass. Scarlette hasn't been as brave to leave the pen- she's literally standing by the entrance watching 😆
See how this goes! Might save on some grass cutting

There is something about baking that is just so therapeutic. Creating something that has minimal ingredients, whole nutritious additions and just plain dynamite delicious!
This brings me joy. I can't wait to see these baked. The seed breads really are so beautiful

Been a bit quiet over here, spring is always a very busy time!

Wondering where you can find us next?! We will be in Giroux for their community picnic. I took my kids last year and they had SO much fun. Come out and support community, shop, grab lunch and hopefully by then enjoy some beautiful weather!
