The sound of rain and a hot coffee, is there anything better on a slow Sunday morning?

Thanks to my husband and his friends for helping with this big project yesterday.

Now I'm taking it easy on this very rainy Sunday. We are forecasted to get over 100mm of rain today and tomorrow and very cool temperatures.

So Ive got a roast beef out for dinner tonight 😋

Do you love a good fun-gi? 😆

After looking into growing my own mushrooms I ordered this kit online. had so much information online, a great selection of products and good customer reviews.

Here are the instructions they have posted online and they also have an easy to follow video too:

Mushrooms are easy to grow on logs outdoors. Cut a freshly fallen tree into manageable sections, drill holes and plant with your choice of delicious and medicinal mushrooms.

Plug Spawn

Plug spawn is very easy to use and requires tools that are found in most households. You will need an 8-8.5mm drill bit to drill holes, a hammer to tap the mushroom plugs into the holes, and a paintbrush or wax dauber to apply melted wax to cover them. To drill holes to the proper depth each time, fit a depth stop onto your 8 mm (5/16″) drill bit or purchase a special high speed 8.5 mm drill bit with built-in depth stop.

Check out Grow Mushrooms Canada, they have information and videos on how to grow your own mushrooms, various options for growing your own mushrooms at home as well as other great mushroom products.

Yesterday I made some stewed rhubarb. My mom made this every summer when I was growing up ❤️ I love it on toast. I just simmer chopped rhubarb with water and sugar until it softens, you can use however much sugar you want, I like mine a little tart.

I used the excess liquid to make a sweet syrup. I used some of the syrup and mixed it in with lemonade and it turned out great. My daughter added a little gin to hers and it was very good too 😆

Share your favorite rhubarb recipes, I have tons of it and need some new ideas.

Should I plant out my seeds and tomato starts or wait until after this heavy rain weather system?

The weeds have taken over.

I know that as the soil improves this will get better. Until then I will keep pulling.

Planting more will also help with this too. I have some more Yarrow to add as well as herbs, calendula, marigolds, comfrey and a few others.

Stay tuned 😉

Oh hello.

I love seeing all the little living creatures in and around my gardens.

Except ticks, I do not want to see those 😆

I often find ants and spiders on me as I'm weeding and planting. It doesn't bother me, I'm the one interrupting there homes.

But ticks... I haven't seen any, (thankfully) but I'm sure they are around.

Cleaning up my big strawberry patch in the food forest 🍓

Strawberries act as a ground cover layer in the food forest. I have several patches of them with this one being the largest.

Who will win this tug of war? Baby Belle just wants to play but her big sister Daisy doesn't want to share.
