Exterior colours almost always look lighter outside than people expect. Indoor lighting can drastically affect how a paint swatch looks which is why we always recommend taking many samples and viewing them outside around your home.

Even better if you can take the time to look at the colors in direct sun, evening shade, and against landscaping before making a final decision.

A colour that works at 7 PM matters just as much as one that works at noon.

We’ve been leaning into more colour-drenched spaces lately; where the walls, trim, ceiling, and doors are painted the same colour.

Colour drenching creates a softer, more immersive feel in a room. It removes harsh visual contrast and makes the space feel quieter, warmer, and more settled overall.

It’s especially effective in smaller spaces like powder rooms, home offices, or reading corners where you want the room to feel calm, comfortable, and intentionally layered without needing to add more décor.

Mudrooms, side entries, laundry rooms, and back hallways usually see the most wear once summer routines pick up.

People are in and out more. Shoes, bags, guests, backyard traffic; these spaces start working overtime.

It’s the way the surface feels when you touch it, how the light hits it in the morning, whether everything looks even, or slightly off.

When the finish is done right then the kitchen just feels clean, smooth, and complete.

When it’s not, you start noticing it more than you’d like.

Two colours that look almost the same on the swatch is often where most decisions get stuck until they’re actually on the wall.

One looks very warm, and the other seems significantly cooler..

The room itself can really shift what a color shows up as.

If you can, always test the colors on the wall before making your final decision - especially, if you are having a hard time deciding between a few.

We’ve been seeing more movement toward deep greens.

Something like Vintage Vogue is calm and relaxing but without feeling too dark, especially in spaces with good natural light.

It tends to sit comfortably between classic and current, which is usually where colour lasts the longest.

Overtime walls start to show all their imperfections...

This looks like sheen shifting in certain spots, areas that catch the light differently, or patches that no longer blend. Maybe a few knicks or markings.

And unfortunately, Spring light makes all of that even more visible.

That’s often when a full repaint starts to make more sense than continuing to touch up.
