I feel with today’s sunshine I’m past the correct time to post this one… it’ll be like a month late when no one is excited about thawing ice anymore. This was the view a bit further north on March 31st.

This is Huntsville at Camp Mini-Yo-We looking out on Dead Man’s Island. Which is an absolutely fabulous name for an island. I wish I knew the story behind it, if I find out I’ll repost the painting with the story 💀👻

It was a lovely +4C with intermittent rain. The snow was up to my knees in places still 😁 but this all contributed to my most speedily finished painting of my life - hour and a half from sitting down to running away (from the rain as it got worse and worse) 😅🌧️

If you would like to purchase this piece of an artist’s true suffering, I’ll have it up on the website by next week.

Heart to Hand show at the Holcim gallery at the First Ontario Art Centre Milton. Presented by the Fine Arts Society of Milton.

After reading that intro, you get 10 points for guessing which town I live in.

The show will be up from April 15 - May 2

There’s a reception on April 24th in the evening, which I’m hoping to attend. It’s always a pleasant time.

I’m going to have my Russula Brevipes Cluster painting, and the little Chipmunk one on display and available for purchase.

Coprinus Comatus all done 😊

Inky drops glistening as they drip down.
This watercolour is more of an illustrative mood. I feel the swirling clouds as a dynamic level to the stark white line work.

So I finished it this past Tuesday but didn’t make the reel until a bit later… so we can all enjoy a bit of time travel 😵‍💫

A bit of a recap :)
This is a cluster of Russula Brevipes fungi
They were growing in the Kolapore Uplands in Ontario, Canada 🍁
Their caps can grow up to 15cm in diameter, and these particular ones were right about that size.

I think this painting would look really well as a print. Got to get that done as a large format matte paper.

Adding a second layer watercolour wash over the mushrooms 🍄

There’s will be a third and a fourth and fifth layer probably 🌈🎨 painting is a game of layers
