Fresh sod can instantly transform your backyard — but success starts with proper installation. Follow the right steps to ensure it takes root and thrives.

1. Clear the Area
Remove all old grass, weeds, rocks, and debris from the site.
2. Grade and Level the Soil
Ensure the yard is properly graded for drainage and level out any uneven spots.
3. Loosen the Soil
Till the top 2–3 inches of soil to help roots establish more easily.
4. Add Fresh Topsoil (if needed)
Spread a layer of nutrient-rich topsoil for better root growth.
5. Rake and Smooth the Surface
Use a rake to level the soil and remove any remaining clumps or debris.
6. Water the Soil Lightly
Lightly moisten the soil before laying the sod to help roots bond quickly.
7. Lay the Sod
Start along a straight edge and stagger the seams like bricks. Press the edges together tightly with no gaps.
8. Roll the Sod
Use a lawn roller to press the sod down and eliminate air pockets.
9. Water Thoroughly
Water immediately after installation and keep it consistently moist for the first 2–3 weeks.

Proper installation makes all the difference in getting a lush, green lawn that lasts!
