Same technique. Completely different results.

🌲Japanese Cedar:
→ Excellent natural decay resistance
→ Optimal carbonization response
→ Minimal maintenance
→ Superior dimensional stability

European Spruce:
→ Poor decay resistance
→ Variable carbonization
→ Regular maintenance needed

North American Pine:
→ Moderate decay resistance
→ Inconsistent carbonization
→ Frequent maintenance required

The charring process improves all wood. But it can't change the species.
🇯🇵Japanese craftsmen chose Cryptomeria Japonica for a reason.
